Digital camera reviews of Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 8.1MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization (Black)Digital camera Review: A wonderfull camera for the average user. Summary: 5 Stars
I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. As a previous owner of the T5 model, I find it to have many improvements over the T5.
I have had a chance to use this camera and it has been simply wonderful. The touch screen menus are very easy to use after a few minutes of practice. Photos are also very clear and crisp. The smile shutter feature is also very innovative although is more for fun than practicality, but still a nice feature. I specially love the very large display. It is very convenient when showing the photos. The lens as usual for the Carl lenses, just fantastic. The ability to have 5x zoom in an internal zooming lens is absolutely fantastic. Also the ability to edit the photos in the camera is great.
If you are looking for a compact, full of enough features, simple to use, everyday home or vacation camera, look no further, it is worth the price. Hope this review can help someone to make a wise decision.
Digital camera Review: Acceptability Yet To Be Determined!- Troubleshooting Help Summary: 2 Stars
We bought our camera 2 months ago and I gave myself some time to figure it out during Christmas and after reading the entire manual. After 2 months & trying most settings, I had most of the same complaints as others on Amazon...Auto mode is useless, horrible indoor photos, blurring, yellow halos, grainy, etc. I called Sony to express my disappointment with this product. Our previous camera was a Sony & except for the size & some battery charging issues it still works well. The Sony rep had me go to *Home *Settings *Main Settings *Initialize & reset it to factory settings (something I had not changed). This has seemed to have done the trick; indoor photos are great on Auto now the yellow has disappeared. So I thought I would share my experience. I haven't been able to test it thoroughly for my other complaints...but I have an open case with Sony now and intend on utilizing the 1 year warranty that comes with it, if need be.
I really like the video (my first digital video- so I am easily impressed), Smile shutter is fun, somewhat temperamental, instant quick start up is an asset with 4 little ones, & the small size is wonderful...although I do miss my 10x zoom on some days! ; )
Digital camera Review: Awesome camera Summary: 5 Stars
This camera is perfect for what I bought it for, which is taking quick, sharp pictures. I would recommend this product and this seller
Digital camera Review: Awesome camera! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best camera that I have ever owned. Very easy to use, almost don't even need the manual. The touch-screen options are very easy to use, and the screen is larger than any other camera I have seen. Battery life is great also. I highly recommend getting at least the 2GB flash drive, which will hold more pictures than you will probably ever need.
Digital camera Review: Awesome little camera - - if used properly Summary: 4 Stars
I own a Sony R-1 which is a SLR type camera - a bit big but excellent image quality. The Sony T-200 is considerably smaller and more convenient to carry around.
Do not expect a mini-compact to compare with a D-SLR type camera - they don't regardless of pixel count.
To get the best out of the T200, use the "Program" (P) mode and set the ISO to 100. Do not use "Vivid" or other in-camera settings (do your adjustments in software). Use Auto only in daylight settings. The grainy, smeary pictures in low light are in auto mode, with an ISO of about 800 or more. The results are not satisfactory.
If you take command of the T200's settings in Program mode you can take excellent pictures in just about any situation except flash pictures. The flash (I call it a peanut popper) is good for about 8' to 10'. After that, since light falls off rapidly, it will not illuminate an auditorium at school or theater. In those instances you may have to accept grainy smeary pictures in lieu of no picture. Sometimes an auxiliary flash tripped by the camera flash can help in large rooms.
I gave the camera a rating of 4 as I think it's pro's outweight the con's for me.
Pros: Excellent close focusing, 5X optical zoom, Small and pocketable, best styling - colors (I love black), When used wisely, excellent, noise free pictures, great color and sharpness. touch screen (recommend a pda type screen cover), plethora of controls including flash intensity. Great face detection (and smile) and optical stabilization (vs. digital correction)
Cons: Battery life limited. Noise and quality not very good above ISO 600, a bit pricy, but the T70 offers much of the same features for less $$$$.
I would definitly recommend a "buy" rating, but be aware you have to think for the camera. If you want just a "point and shoot" camera, still use the "P" scene mode or perhaps try the Canon or Nikon. Make sure you purchase your camera from a store that allows a reture privilege regardless of the brand you buy. You do not have to be stuck with a product you do not like.
