Digital camera reviews of Sony Cybershot DSCW120/P 7.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot (Pink)Digital camera Review: My daughter loves her camera! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this camera for my daughter for Christmas. I had checked all the sale ads in my area and lots of sites online and this was the best price. It also came very quickly and was exactly what she wanted.
Digital camera Review: Nice Pictures Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this camera becuase I was going on a cruise to Bermuda. Never owning a sony before I crossed my fingers. I am so happy with this camera. It took such beautiful clear shots, motion shots were fuzzy but for the most part every picture I took was more outstanding then the next one. Easy to use, I bought a 4gb memory card and had over 1000 pictures I could take. I took 400 pictures and I am happy with them. This is a good camera and a good buy. I am a sony customer for life.
Digital camera Review: Nice results and good praise, except... Summary: 4 Stars
A holiday gift for my niece. She loves it a takes great shots. Crisp and everything and more than you'd expect from a $100 camera. We all noted that if you weren't really still there might be a blur. That's the shooters fault - but kids are hard to keep still. Good value and I think/hope it will give her three years of use till she gets to high school. 4 Star
Digital camera Review: Not As Expected Summary: 3 Stars
Purchased from a discount store via Amazon. Delivery was timely. When the box was opened, it looked like it had been opened before, although everything was there. A short while after, I noticed a stuck pixel on the display. I guess that was why it was discounted.
If conditions are right, the pictures are excellent. By right, I mean the subject must be holding still and the lighting must be good.
Shutter lag is a problem, especially trying to get shots of grandkids. Reviews I had read said that this camera was faster than average for point-and-shoot cameras, but I've got much older digicams that are at least as fast. The flash is also slow, kids tend to move before it finally makes the shot.
I can't say much good about the smile feature - good luck getting someone to smile hard enough to trigger it, then hold still long enough for the image to be captured.
Low light performance is okay. The image stabilization helps, although not as much as I expected.
Focusing - there are multiple focus zones, and the camera may focus on the background instead of on the intended subject. Pre-focusing works, but with moving subjects there isn't always time to do that.
Finally, the battery discharges faster than expected. If we shoot a lot of photos all at once it seems to hold up okay. But if we can take a few shots on a fully charged battery, then let the camera sit for several days, turn it on again and the battery is half gone. Should it discharge if the camera is off?
Overall, not a great camera. But it is a good cheap camera.
Digital camera Review: Not a good camera! Summary: 1 Stars
First of all, let me say this... I can't believe this camera has earned 136 5-Star reviews and 49 4-Star reviews. Also, I can't believe they are charging $250 for this piece of junk. I've had my camera for about 2 years. I bought it to replace a Kodak Easy Share, which took awesome pics but had a serious battery problem. This Sony takes great pics outdoors with lots of natural light. Indoors is an entirely different story. Lag time is excessive. Blur is a common problem and many precious moments are lost due to this. Many pics come out yellow AND blurry. This is supposed to be a point-and-shoot camera. There may be settings you can tweak to alleviate these issues, but if I wanted a manual camera, I would have bought one! The battery life is way too short, therefore I had to purchase an additional battery for a back-up, so I would always have one fully charged and ready to go. I don't like the memory stick... I prefer an SD card. Like I said, I've had this camera for about 2 years and stopped taking pics for awhile because they were so crappy. FINALLY, I broke down and bought a Nikon Coolpix S3000 12.0MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom Electronic Vibration Reduction (VR) and 2.7-Inch LCD for $110 and LOVE it. It has fast ISO of 3200, which is great for low-light and moving objects. I wish I would have done myself a favor and upgraded the Sony much sooner.
