Digital camera reviews of Sony Cybershot DSCW150 8.1MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot (Silver)

Digital camera Review: Sony has replaced quality with lower price, smaller size
Summary: 1 Stars

Drat! I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews! I own a DSC-W100 that takes very sharp photos. However, it is starting to act up, so I bought a DSC-W150 for a trip to Africa, mostly because of its longer zoom range (30-150 mm equivalent instead of 38-114 mm equivalent). It arrived only a couple of days before the trip, so I did an incomplete job of checking it out -- my fault, of course. On the trip, I was raving to my wife about how great it was and proudly showing off the great images on the LCD back at the hotel each night. But, when we got home and downloaded the images -- TERRIBLE. Soft, blurry images, even in bright outdoor conditions. At least half of my pix had to be culled, and many of the ones I've kept are awful, but I want them in the album for their subjects. Why Sony would let its quality go down, apparently a ubiquitous problem with way too many of their models after the W100, escapes me. It seems that they've bought into most Americans' fascination with lower price and smaller size and have done so at the expense of picture quality. Shame on you, Sony. I have so many of your batteries, rechargers, and memory sticks that I hate to change to another company -- probably Canon -- but I cannot be satisfied with these mushy, washed-out, low-contrast, low-saturation images -- even at 8 megapixels and with "vivid" color selected. I can only think about the great shots I had to cull.

Digital camera Review: This an average plus camera...Does ok but nothing great like a Canon
Summary: 3 Stars

Sony does everything great except camera shots....I will say to leave it to the big boys like Canon or Nikon....This camera is good but not great...I will comparae it to a low calorie beer which is water down and less tasteful....Get the non calorie beer, trust me.

Digital camera Review: This camera rocks
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this to replace my lost Canon A510. This camera takes pictures fast. The images are clean and crisp outdoors. But again indoor shots will always get screwed under low lighting with all the point and shoots. The LCD is bright and sharp (thanks to the big, high resolution display).

Pros:
1. Clean and crisp outdoor images.
2. Very fast auto focus.
3. Decent image quality indoors in good lighting.
4. Menu and settings organization is good.
5. Lots of retouch options.
6. DRO works awesome.
7. Macro mode is too good for a point and shoot.

Cons:
1. Need to press too much buttons for a simple task.
2. Playback is slow and starts up very slowly too.
3. Purple streaks in the LCD when viewed against a bright light source. They don't appear in the pictures, but still viewable in video.
4. Noisy indoor images under average/ low lighting.
5. Buttons are tiny and mode dial looks cheap.
6. Proprietary USB connector.
7. White balance is not effective.

Digital camera Review: Very Good Camera
Summary: 5 Stars

Takes good pictures. I wish it zoomed in a little more but for what I spent the picture clarity is very good.

Digital camera Review: Very poor picture
Summary: 1 Stars

Bought this camera to replace our Fugi S3000 3.2 Mpix Digi Camera. It had great reviews and everything works as advertised (the smile shutter is very cool) expect the most important thing, the PICTURE! The picture really stinks. It is VERY hard to take crisp pictures with this camera. The pictures are all very soft and almost out of focus. Unfortuneately we kept the camera beyond the return period or I would definately return it. The 4 yr old Fuji takes MUCH better pictures. I would NOT recommend this camera as I have seen similar review issues (NOW...) on many other sites. Buy something else.
