Digital camera Review: Excellent Product

My main motivation for buying this product had been the brand name and also since I didn't want to spend on recurring costs like tape/DVDs.
After many trips shooting with this handycam, the video quality has been consistently amazing.
Coupled with an additional battery, it can last hours of shooting.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to take pictures with this since it's clearly not meant for it. The photo quality is abysmal at best and is no substitute for a regular camera.

I had been trying to figure out for awhile which, if any, HDD camcorders to get for my husband this past Christmas. This was perfect. It is a really nice size and weight. Will be easy for him to travel with - without taking up tons of space in the carry on - plus it can take still shots as well so he can skip the regular camera. Excellent image quality, easy to upload to computer or web, easy to use with clear directions, and the price was really reasonable compared to many others. This camera is compact and easy to use. The video quality is pretty decent. The audio quality is pretty poor though, it's because the microphones are on the top of the unit, facing upwards, not forwards. This is my biggest complaint with the unit. Otherwise nearly all other features a great! With an extended battery I can get up to 4 hours recording; the view screen is good, but I would recommend a Hoodman hood or something to go over it if you shoot outside, the screen washes out easily and is very glossy, also get a screen protector (like for an iPod and trim it to size) to reduce glare. You can get a memory stick and record to the hard drive or the stick. But with the audio, there is nothing you can do to make it significantly better, as there is no secondary mic input on the camera. So you might end up having to turn up the volume in your movie editing software.Digital camera Review: Good camcorder but a couple of points to note

Overall good camera but couple of flaws:
1. Picture quality is nice for digital but don't expect miracles - if you want crisp quality go for HD
2. Goes out of focus when moving the camera around while recording.
Will probably get HD once prices are more reasonable.
