Digital camera reviews of Sony DPF-D80 8-Inch LCD Digital Photo Frame (Black)Digital camera Review: Finally a frame that works... Summary: 4 Stars
After a disastrous bout with Kodak's latest photo frames, I'm happy to have found one that finally works without problems. I got the D80 on sale at Sears Canada for $169 and was half expecting I might have to return it, especially after reading that this model, like the Kodaks, may have problems displaying altered images. But so far so good. It seems to have displayed everything I have thrown at it, including over 2000 images edited in Adobe CS2. I suspect as others have noted, the issue may be with images saved as progressive jpegs. If you check your pictures with Irfanview, it will tell you if they are progressive or not and allow you to resave them as normal jpegs. Picture quality is indeed sharper than the Kodak frames, but to my eye not quite as bright and vivid. Still, overall, I think the sharpness and contrast satisfies my desires and I am currently running through slideshows of my own images, art images, pulp fiction covers and hundreds of wonderful photographs from the internet. The remote feels a little cheap and sometimes takes a while to scroll through the menus. I would love to be able to select images via folders and if Sony were looking for a firmware upgrade option this would be a great addition. To compensate, I have the memory and all the individual slots filled with different sets of pictures and select a different input when I feel like a change. Full marks to Sony for providing a basic digital frame that gets the picture right, that's what it's all about isn't it? This should keep me going until the next generation of OLED's hit the market in a competitive price range.
Digital camera Review: Fixed Random Summary: 3 Stars
Got it as a birthday gift back in August. Although the image qualify is good on this frame, the ability to "randomly" display all the pictures doesn't seem to work. Each time the frame is tuned on, the random mode always shows you the same pictures in the same order. I don't know if there's any software out there from Sony that'll fix this problem. Unfortunately, I don't turn on the frame as much as I would like to because I am sort of sick of the same old picture showing over and over without any chance of a different set of pictures. Sad and annoying, really.
Digital camera Review: Good Buy ... Worth the price. Summary: 5 Stars
Our Family bought this as a gift for our grandparents and it didn't disappoint. Everyone enjoys sharing their family pictures with our grandparents. The quality is excellent. The pictures are highly visible. All in all a great product.
Digital camera Review: Good Digi Pic Frame Summary: 4 Stars
..The S-Frame is a nice simple hassle free digital picture frame. I had mine up and running in no time once I got my hands on it. I exported snaps directly from my Macbook (iPhoto app) directly to the S-Frame connected through a USB cable.
Now the Bummber!!
The picture frame has a Clock + picture display mode and a Calendar + picture display mode - Well nothing wrong with that......
.......BUT in the "Clock + Picture" mode guess what the clock displays - NO not your local time....it displays the time the picture was taken.......how VERY useful!!....duh!!
........HOW DUMB is that?????
Conclusion.
Good Quality Pic frame for folks who want a plain Vanilla pic frame with VERY VERY good display quality. Also has a collage mode - works well.
But do throw your plans of having a Clock + Picture display, into the nearest dust-bin!
Am I happy with the buy?.....YES VERY!
Have Frame ..Can Display.... Me Happy!
Digital camera Review: Good Way To Show Off Photos Summary: 5 Stars
I really love this frame and it has been a perfect way for me to see my photos.
The pictures are bright and vibrant on the screen, and have people have complimented me on some of my photos, which never happened with standard frames.
