My JVC GR-DVL920U indicated that the heads needed cleaning after 50 hrs of recording and hundreds more on playback. That said, I popped the Sony MiniDV cleaner tape, played it for 10 sec. per instruction and the indication went away. I only use the brand name tapes (e.g. JVC, Sony, Maxell,& TDK) which probably accounts for why I haven't had any problems with either the unit or this cleaning tape. If you use the really cheap tapes, they tend to mess up the heads even after cleaning just because of the residue they leave behind.Digital camera Review: It`s a Sony!
