True to Sony 's reputation for quality TV products, this little gem is true to form. Excellent picture and quality of manufacture is apparent, and synonymous with trademark Sony.
What I did not like about the set is the overly sensitive control panel on the set itself. It is difficult to see and operate, in my estimation. In this case, the remote control is golden, so guard it with your life.
One other minor annoyance is the small screen default start up size. To watch your DVD full screen, you must go through a multi-step procedure to get it each and every time you start it up.
UPDATE: December, 2010. After about a year of minimal use, the player has developed a thin purple vertical line down the right side of the screen. Contacted Sony only to discover that it must be returned for repair. My original review still stands, that the picture quality is near perfection, but the short life span is unacceptable. I truly expected more from Sony and doubt if I will ever buy another Sony product based on this experience, especially where there are so many other high quality brand names out there. I would change my rating now to one star. R.E.W.
UPDATE No. 2: February 2011. It occurred to me that having purchased this product with my Amazon Visa credit card, the original warranty by the manufacturer would be doubled. By contacting the Visa extended warranty claim dept. and submitting a repair quote from Sony, I had my original unit repaired by Sony Technicians and returned to me in about a months time. Total cost to me was $6 for shipping, which Sony helped by supplying a shipping label to print out. All in all a very good transaction and my unit is back in "like new" condition. A happy ending and back to 5 stars for this DVD player. R.E.W.

I love the larger screen. It's small enough to be easily portable, and big enough to enjoy. Plugs up easily to a large screen TV too. Battery life has been good so far too. The dual headphone jackets are a nice touch.
