Digital camera Review: My confusion with the instruction

One confusion that I had was with the operating instruction that came with the microphone. I was confused that I thought I had to buy and install a ECR2025 lithum battery onto the microphone before I could make it work!
Other than that, the microphone works well. Thanks.

With its omnidirectional pickup pattern, the ECM-C115 records voices from any direction, while its small size won't get in the way of your normal meeting workflow.
With a frequency response of 50 to 15,000 Hz, this microphone accurately captures the important frequencies used in speech, and a 71 dB dynamic range ensures that your recordings are clear and accurate. You can attach the mic to your clothing with its integrated clip, or place it on a tabletop in the center of conversation. The gold-plated, L-shaped mini-plug is designed to maximize signal-to-noise ratio and is compatible with nearly all portable recording devices. The supplied windscreen helps reduce popping and sibilance, which can lead to distortion.
The ECM-C115 operates either via plug-in power, or its battery, which has an expected life of about 300 hours.
