Digital camera reviews of Sony HTCT100 Sound Bar with Subwoofer - Black

Digital camera Review: Amazing Soundbar... Volume not an issue for me
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a small living room in my apartment, and based on the reviews I have read (both here and cnet) I figured why not give this a try...Wow was I happy I did. DTS and Dolby Digital (via both blu ray and regular dvd) sound amazingly crisp and clear. The volume getting loud enough is never an issue...in fact, I normally have to keep it on like between 10-15 when watching dvds because it gets so rumbling and loud. That said, I am using hdmi for my cable, blu ray, and netflix roku box. I use RCA for my nintendo wii and set it to "game" mode, so it creates a dolby pro logic II effect.

Stylish, Compact, Gutt Rumbling/Crisp, and relatively inexpensive.

Highly Recommended.

Digital camera Review: As expected.
Summary: 4 Stars

This soundbar did what I expected for the money. My only problem is that it doesn't get that loud hooked up to my DVR. The PS3 puts out way more volume. Setting it to PCM audio was my way of getting the most volume I could out of it. Would've loved if the remote worked with my Sony TV as well, and it did for 10 minutes, then it never took control of the TV again.
Overall, I'm satisfied.

Digital camera Review: Awesome Sound Bar
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a very functional and great sounding sound bar. After a quick setup, I still needed to adjust the bass level a bit to fit the level needed for my living room. I also prefer the default sound setting rather than some of the other options they have for movies, sports, etc. I also love that you can run the input signal from satellite, cable or whatever directly into the device. This give me the option to listen to the tv channel without having the tv on (my wife loves to listen to the tv). I agree with other reviewers that it won't give great surround sound but that is not what I wanted. I guarantee it will give a huge improvement over even great built in tv speakers.

Digital camera Review: Bang For Buck
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this item over 6 months ago. I've compared all the soundbars on the market at the time, and this was the way to go for sound/price. As for inputs, it suited me perfectly as I only use HDMI (PS3,TV,PC). Great sound, but don't expect 5.1 surround...

check out the avsforum .com site and search for the Sony HTCT. A lot of great support and information on this piece of equipment. DaWriter has great settings to boost the performance of the unit.

$255 is a good solid deal, but i've seen this go down to $200.

Digital camera Review: Bang For Your Buck!! Must Buy!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I plugged it in via HDMI to my PS3 to my Samsung LN40A550 40" 1080p TV. I have played some games and blurays with the device. The sound is excellent for the size and price of the unit. However, it is not as good as my actually 5.1 TruHD system (DUH!) but it is perfect for my TV in my bedroom.

The unit includes standard Dolby and DTS surround processing modes. For Blu-ray, it can accept uncompressed PCM soundtracks, but it won't decode Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, nor any DTS HD flavors. (The better Blu-ray players, such as Sony's own PS3, decode those soundtracks internally and output PCM anyway, so that's not going to be a big deal for most folks.)

In addition, if you would like an increased surround effect, keep the center channel level at the baseline "zero" setting or below for the most pronounced surround effects.

My only complaint is I wish there were more audio configuring options, but the center ans S/W tweeking settings and the sound profiles (standard, movie, music, game) are perfectly fine to get the sound you desire.

If your looking for a sound system for your bedroom, office, or small family room TV, this is PERFECT. I Highly recommend the purchase of this unit. If you have an HDTV without speakers yet and a HD source (PS3, bluray, xbox, sat box, upconverting dvd playr, etc.) get off your butt from your computer and go to wal-mart or best buy/or add to cart on amazon.com and purchase this item!
