Digital camera Review: Nice Radio

I bought this radio a week ago, and I have a couple of observations:
1. The radio has excellent reception. I live in Chicago, and at night am able to receive an AM country music station from Nashville, Tennessee. The station is so clear that at first I thought that it was a new station in Chicago. The FM, TV and weather station reception is awesome as well.
2. Also, for those who complain that the headphone jack is mono, please look at the radio. It has one speaker. One speaker means that it is a MONO RADIO! Don't buy a single speaker radio and expect to plug stereo headphones into it and have them work. If you want a radio with stereo sound, spend more money and buy a stereo radio with two speakers, not a mono radio with one speaker. Common sense goes a long way folks!
3. For the price, this is a nice radio. Nice sound, excellent reception, and gets a lot of play out of one set of batteries. It is also solidly built and the dials have no "play" in them, and it feels like it has a good amount of quality.
This is a nice radio, and I am pleased with my purchase.

I wanted something small and portable with not too many bells and whistles. This fit the bill perfectly. Because its Sony you know you are going to get a good product; of course with that repuatation you always pay a few bucks more for Sony then the competitors.
This radio was just what I needed for use on muy backyard deck. AM / FM come in great with plenty of clear stations. I haven't used the TV tuner or Weather tuner all that much but when I did it worked fine.
Overall,
Nice little radio; really light, uses only 2 'AA' batteries and gets great reception with decent volume.

The Sony ICF-36 is definitely a portable radio. The radio has decent AM/FM reception and the TV and Weather have poor reception. It also has a very basic design but that's OK for a portable.Digital camera Review: Not for AM listeners

I got this radio so that I could listen to AM talk-radio at work. The reception was simply not good. A much cheaper department store radio outperforms on AM reception.
That having been said, FM reception is good and the speaker quality is superb!
