I chose this radio as a backup for power/cable outages. The TV band gets good reception (I'm in a metro area with few hills). Unfortunately, when TV goes digital in February '09, the TV reception feature won't work. Sony notes this on the box.
I've always had good luck with Sony products - you can't beat the quality and dependability. The radio is a good buy, even without the TV feature.

Plus, price is the best for this type of radio!!
Excellent sound//quality//and just works great! Easy to operate-and understand. I sure enjoy this radio-- and can tune in to the weather if and when needed-- (and this is great since I do not have a window to look out of during the day.) In the meantime, love listening to TV...makes my work day go fast!

Beautiful sound, very good for the money. It looks beautiful too. This radio has one minor flaw: It can use the 120V power outlet in the house, which is absolutely unnecessary for me and most other people. This feature not only increases the price, but also the weight and the size of the radio as it has to hold a transformer and the circuit that turns AC to filtered DC power.Digital camera Review: Excellent sound. I live in a house without television and needed to be able to listen to some TV over the radio. This little Sony was expensive, but worth it for the television channels. But post digital TV, this little box gets ZERO in terms of TV signal, and I am not happy about that at all, considering I paid $135.00 to have it.
That said, the sound is excellent. It's light, portable, and gets a nice NPR signal, even with the antennae down.
I wrote the seller, asking for a price adjustment, considering that it is not a TV signal receptor, as was advertised. But, of course, I've heard nothing from them.
So, do I send it back for full refund?
