Digital camera reviews of Sony ICF-C318 Clock Radio with Dual Alarm (Black)

Digital camera Review: Disappointing for a Sony
Summary: 2 Stars

This alarm clock radio was a bit disappointing for a Sony.
Pros: Dual alarm clock

Cons: Alarm settings a bit confusing to set up and I had to read the directions, but for an alarm clock? Really?

Low light level on clock face. We didn't want a night light, but even at the highest setting, we can barely see the time during the night because it is so dim.

Beeping alarm starts out slowly when it first goes off but builds with speed if you don't react quickly to turn it off. That can be irritating to say the least. At 5:00 AM does anyone jump quickly?

The radio is the biggest disappointment, since I prefer to wake that way vs my hubby with the beeping. The quality is horrid and the tuner is just as bad. I can't tune in clearly even to the local radio stations that I can with any other radio in the house, even the one that used to sit in the same place. There is no antenna or antenna wire to fiddle with that might have helped. It suggests turning the clock. Well even turning the silly thing backwards did not help. All I can get is music with static on any station I try to pull in. This really has shocked me with Sony. I did not buy this for a stereo, so I am not looking for that type of quality at all. Tuning into local stations w/o static would have been nice.

Time was not correct out of the box either, in fact it wasn't even there when I plugged it in. I had to set the whole thing up, which is fine if the product hadn't said it would be all set up for me. I'm wondering if I have received someone else's return/rejected alarm clock radio. That might explain a lot.

I would not recommend this alarm clock.

Digital camera Review: Does the job and the price is right
Summary: 4 Stars

I needed a clock radio to replace a "stereo" (read: it had 2 speakers on it, but it's not like it had amazing sound) Panasonic one I had for almost 20 years. I hardly ever wake up to an alarm, so the clock part is what mattered most on a daily basis. The numbers are big enough for me to see easily without squinting without my glasses on (I'm fairly nearsighted). Definitely not too bright when the lights are off. The radio sound is not great, but for the price I didn't expect a heck of a lot, and will work fine when I need to use it as an alarm clock. Recommended if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money and don't need and MP3 player, "stereo", etc.

Digital camera Review: Does the job well
Summary: 4 Stars

Got this as a gift from my wife, like the compact design and the ability to increase the time for the snooze alarm. The buzzer could be a little louder, but otherwise it's great, very reliable.

Digital camera Review: Does the job!
Summary: 5 Stars

Cheap alarm clock that does a great job! Although it comes with a self setting time mechanism you can easily set the time to whatever you like. The dual alarms work fantastic. The radio sounds great. This is a great value.

Digital camera Review: Don't buy for Radio/Sound
Summary: 3 Stars

I'm please with the clock and alarm aspects of this product, but the sound quality from the speaker is god awful. Very "tinnie" with very little bass and the dial is difficult to tune. I have a 20+ year-old alarm clock that I intended to replace and the sound from its speaker remains much better with a full frequency range (tenor to bass).
