Digital camera reviews of Sony ICF-C318 Clock Radio with Dual Alarm (Black)Digital camera Review: Easy to use and reliable Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this clock for the guest bedroom, which is down in the basement. I wanted the feature where the clock sets itself so I wouldn't have to worry about remembering to set it in an area I rarely go in case of a power outage or twice a year with the time changes. This feature works fine. Plus, it's really easy to use. I basically took it out of the box, plugged it in, set the features (radio stations, alarm times, etc.). Plus, it's small, so it fits better on the bedside table than the last big clunker I had.
Digital camera Review: Easy to use: Good Price Summary: 4 Stars
A good easy to use compact clock radio for the price with Sony quality. Decent radio reception with dimmer controls. One negative due to its size, is the "tinnie" sound quality of the speakers. But, it is a clock/radio.
Digital camera Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
I really love this clock radio. The sound is better then expected. It was easy t set the clock but a bit more of a challenge to set the alarm. I actually read the directions, go figure. We have had a few power outages due to the summer storms and it resets when the power returns. I love that feature most of all.
Digital camera Review: Excellent Alarm Clock Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this alarm clock soon after switching to a new cell phone. My old one used to have a really loud alarm that was reliable, but the new phone didn't always go off so I had to find something else to wake me up in the mornings. I'm not a light sleeper so I was looking for a relatively loud alarm, but not so loud that it startles me (then I get grumpy). This clock was perfect for the job.
===Pros===
+Good construction, haven't had any problems with the knobs that others have reported.
+Love the 2 alarm feature - one for weekdays, one for weekends! That way I never end up forgetting to reset the alarm.
+Large display so I can see it from my bed without putting on my glasses.
+Brightness settings. The medium setting is perfect for me so that it isn't blinding at night but I can still see it clearly.
+Alarm sound starts quietly and increases in volume and frequency. I love this feature because it allows me to ease into waking up, but it still eventually becomes loud and frequent enough to make me actually get up.
===Cons===
-Knobs to adjust alarm time are a little hard to use when adjusting +/- 15 minutes or so...if you hold it too long it will skip a lot, but you don't want to turn it one digit at a time either.
At first, looking at the reviews, I was a little hesitant because they mentioned that the alarm was on the quiet side. However, that is not true - it does get quite loud and I am not the lightest of sleepers (have never been able to sleep through one of these alarms). I would definitely recommend this alarm clock. I can't comment on the radio functions because I bought this specifically for the alarm clock function.
Digital camera Review: Excellent Dual Alarm Summary: 5 Stars
The features that other reviewers seem to dislike are precisely the features that I love about this alarm clock. It is a dual alarm, which is handy. The intensity of the light display is adjustable but at its highest setting it may be too dim for people who like the blaring LED displays of many clocks. However, if you are a person who enjoys sleeping in a dark room, as I do, this clock is perfect. It's bright enough to easily see the time displayed (even with my glasses off... *heh*), but doesn't produce an undo amount of light. I tried several alarm clocks from the local stores and all of them had displays brighter than a night light and some as bright as a small lamp. The sound of the alarm is not blaring, but it is loud enough to wake most sound sleepers. So if you like your sleeping room dark, and don't need a foghorn to wake you up this is a solid, reasonably priced dual alarm clock. I'm thrilled I finally found it.
