Digital camera Review: A Lot of Radio for the Money

The ICF-M1000 originally retailed for $130, but Amazon has been selling it for $42-45 and having bought one a week ago, I am rather stunned for the amount of radio you get for you money. Its high-grade materials, high-gloss black appearance, large speaker sound and solid AM make it a great value. I must say that its FM reception, relying on its power cord, is less than great. I have problems tuning in 89.3 KPCC, for example. Nevertheless, for the 42 dollars I spent (plus 14 dollars shipping), I got a radio that is almost as good as the $120 Tivoli Model One. If you can find a Model One for about $75, get it over the Sony because of its crisper sound. If you have high expectations and high needs for great FM and want a big speaker sound like the Sony or Tivoli, then I recommend you look at the $99-120 Kaito 2100.

Update: Frustrated with the FM reception on both my Sony and my Tivoli Model One, I sold both and replaced them with two Boston Acoustics Horizon Solos, a great FM performer.
