Digital camera reviews of Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave World Band Receiver with Single Side Band Reception, plus External Plug-in Antenna

Digital camera Review: Good radio
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been shopping around for a good short wave radio. I have looked at Kaito (1103,1102), Grundig (G5, G6) and the SONY. I liked SONY because of normal rotating volume control, sync. detector, SSB capabilities, dual conversion and reasonable working time from one set of batteries.

What I do not like is tunning by buttons. With 1kHz scanning, the buttons work O.K. but it just takes the fun from searching the stations. The telescopic anthenna in my unit is a bit loose. FM reception is just O.K. Display could be more informative,i.e. signal strength indicator would be nice.

Overall, I am happy with the unit.

Digital camera Review: Good radio but no alpanumeric labeling offered, like it says
Summary: 3 Stars

The radio is very good except in the Amazon description it says "This Sony radio allows you to label each station with up to six alphanumeric letters" which it does NOT!! that is the only reason I bought it.

Digital camera Review: Good value
Summary: 5 Stars

Great radio, especially compared to the Grundig that Radio Shack sells for twice the price. Best feature is the sensitive and stable tuning, least desirable is the small speaker.

Digital camera Review: Great Features While They Last
Summary: 1 Stars

I loved this radio at first. It has a lot of bells and whistles and appears to be a quality radio. The earlier model lasted 20 years so when it finally gave out I purchased this model with the expectation that it would have a fair lifespan. It was treated with kid gloves sitting on my bedside stand in an airconditioned house and used for about one hour a day. After two years (one year after the warranty ran out) I tried to turn it on and found that keys were locked and 00:00 was flashing. I did everything the manual advised and then tried the Sony online chat. I was advised that it needed to be sent in for service. Then I tried email. They came to the same conclusion and added the link for service. No repair was available but they offered an exchange for a reconditioned radio at the cost of $120 plus tax and shipping. That is nearly the cost of a new radio! I will never buy another SONY product.
If you want an expensive disposable radio with neat features, this is the one for you.

Digital camera Review: Great Portable With Excellant A.M. Reception And Great Battery Life!
Summary: 5 Stars

My search is finally over for a radio with perfect A.M. reception. I get a lot of the weak stations, and without static.
The sync lock also helps in areas with heavy interference. The battery life is excellent! I made it over a week on one set of batteries! The F.M. and shortwave are also nice. I also like the fact that you can fall asleep to one station and wake to another.
This is one of the best portables out there!
