Digital camera reviews of Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave World Band Receiver with Single Side Band Reception, plus External Plug-in Antenna

Digital camera Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

This radio has super sensitive reception. I hesitated purchasing it, because people said they didnt like pressing buttons, rather than tuning with a knob. Well... it's not bad at all. It has a great scan feature, and if you set the ATT threshold correctly, you'll get mostly real stations and a few birdies. The batteries (not included) last forever (NiMH) and the sound quality is pretty good too. It is very well constructed, and pretty easy to operate. I do wish the scan/delay time was programable. It will find a station, and you reach over to stop the scan, and its already off to find another one. Stick the external antenna in your window at night, and turn this thing on - you'll hear plenty. And YES it does have SSB. Upper and Lower Sideband (selectable)

Digital camera Review: Great Radio
Summary: 4 Stars

Great radio, lots of features. The only thing negative to me is the heavy antenna. Place the radio on a table and the antenna must be stright up. Holding the radio while using at an angle, and you notice the weight of the antenna. Other than that, am not sorry I purchased the radio, I like it very much.

Digital camera Review: Great Radio
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned this radio for about 4 months, and I am pretty impressed with it. The 7600 is a big radio stuffed into a small package. It is extremely portable yet carries a full load of features. The only downside I've found is the battery life. I opted for a wall plug in, and don't regret it. It comes in much better using the wall plug-in also. I wish it had a dial, but it's not that big of a deal. I would recommend this radio to anyone looking for a quality multi-band radio but doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars.

Digital camera Review: Great Radio
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a Yacht Boy 400 before I got this (the YB died after six years). It has all
the functionality of the Grundigs except the sound is not at Grundig's five star
level, more like four or three and a half. However, your not getting one of these
radios to rattle the ductwork are you? One thing I loved over the Grundig is that
when you scan through frequencies you don't get those annoying silent gaps. Just
a clean walk through the ether, the sound rolling along as you listen for a "hit".
Also, it takes only four AA's to the YB's six. The build is about the same in terms of heft,
and you get a long roll up antenna too, though you clip it ON to the pull
out one built into the radio instead of plugging it into a port, though you can
buy one to do that if you like. A great feature is the synchronus detection
that helps you lock on to those stations that fade in and out. The SSB works well,
and the bonus LSB for morse code is interesting, if not immedietly useful. There
are dual local/UTC time settings that are quick to setup and the usual "clockradio"
mode that makes it great when taken on the road. I love the "sleep" setting that
quietly will turn the radio off after a predetermined time, great for when you
listen to the BBC as you drift off, or a long winded numbers station.

Its hard for me to say "get this, its better than the G3" because they are so
closely matched, but for me the selling point was that the Sony was just easier
to use, more intuitive, with better manuals.

If you want a versatile, well built, intuitive, multi-band world radio thats
portable, easy to power and sensitive, this one will not disappoint you.

Digital camera Review: Great Radio For A Portable!
Summary: 5 Stars

For the price this is a great radio.
Sony quality and performance.
Sensitivity is good with the attached antenna and the syncronous detector makes SWL very enjoyable. Recommend it highly, especially to one who is starting with the hobby.
