Digital camera reviews of Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave World Band Receiver with Single Side Band ReceptionDigital camera Review: Exc. Intro to Shortwave Summary: 5 StarsExcellent & inexpensive intro to the world of shortwave. Lives up to its rep in quality, features, and performance. Amazon delivers an outstanding opportunity to learn and enjoy shortwave radio with an instrument capable of reception ability, sound quality, and performance engineering. Kudos!!
Digital camera Review: Power adapter Summary: 5 StarsI just want to say, that power supply for this radio isn't problem - you can use power adapter from Sony PSP or Sony E-Reader. The size is smaller, than original. The voltage is universal - from 100 to 240 Volts. Works perfect. The price for such adapter (brand new) is about 5$ on EBay and 4$- 12$ on Amazon.
Digital camera Review: Cool. Summary: 5 StarsI'm glad I purchased this. I've had a good time exploring the shortband radio waves, it comes with a great booklet on reception depending on location and time very useful. One thing that this radio doesn't do is Aircraft, Weather, or Police Scanning (At least I haven't figured it out). I'm new to radio, so I wasn't clue'd in on all the potential features a radio could have. I haven't figured out how to use the usb and lsb effectively, but it does produce a beautiful sci-fi distortion. It comes with an external antenna and has been great when travelling. I listen to it at work, use it for an alarm, the buttons and navigation is intuitive, couldn't be happier.
Digital camera Review: One FINE radio Summary: 5 StarsI own allot of radios. I have a Ham Radio License so I do know a bit about them. I was concerned about the direct input vs. the tuning knob I am used to. But this radio is very easy to set in a certain meter range and scan it. I was surprised how easy it was to set up. A heavy radio for its size that seems to give you a bit-o-confidence, it's not got an "Elcheapo" feel ya know. Performance? I give it five stars--that Sync is awesome. Love the sleep timer too.
Digital camera Review: Good but not perfect Summary: 4 StarsThis is a nice little radio, but a bit overpriced. I only use it for AM broadcast band DXing, so have not checked it out much on FM or SW. FM sounds very good though. On the AM broadcast band it is quite sensitive, but not super selective. Powerful local stations will slop over 10-20 khz. I find images of KSTP 1500 (only 3 miles from me) quite a few places on the band (including SW), and it totally wipes out 590 khz. It does not seem to have very good nulls when rotating the radio, but that may be due to the small ferrite antenna. The radio is larger and heavier than I would like, but that is just a personal preferrence. The sync lock feature works like a charm and is able to dig many weak stations out of the mud and make them audible. This is the best feature of this receiver in my opinion. I do not use the speaker, but sound quality is good when using headphones. Despite what some reviewers have said, I find this radio extremely easy to use. It is not complicated at all! Battery life is respectable. I have not timed it, but I suspect they last 20-30 hours. Even though it has some warts, I love this little radio and am happy with my purchase. Of course it has the Sony quality.
