I gave this to my wife for her birthday. She loves it. Excellent reception. She likes the weather band too.
Digital camera Review: Good & Bad radio! Summary: 4 Stars
I've had four (4) of these little radios starting with the one that had TV channels - and - yes the button covers will wear away but the unit still works. I never had any of them in the shower or near water so I can't judge the water-proofing capabilities. The battery wear is rather good - use it every morning and batteries last about six months. I've dropped it with no problems. Sooo - it's good and it's bad - but the bad is that the plastic covers over the buttons wear out but the buttons still work. The FM antenna is very good but then I live 14 miles from L.A. So, if you want a pretty good, small radio for your bathroom, you can't go wrong with this handly little guy.
Digital camera Review: Good ... unless you have a travertine shower Summary: 4 Stars
I like it a lot; I really do. The reception is good; the clock is easy to read (even without my glasses); and, at least so far, it appears to actually be water resistant. And the countdown timer is enabling me to take more water-conservation-oriented showers.
My problem is with the little suction cup for the antenna. I keep the radio in a little shower niche (for shampoos and such) and it really needs the antenna OUTSIDE of the niche in order to get decent reception. No problem, right? The manufacturer has conveniently supplied a thin little antenna cord and an itty bitty suction cup you can use to attach said antenna to the shower wall.
Problem: The suction cup keeps falling off my shower wall. I assumed that perhaps this was just ME, but a bit of googling suggests suction cups and travertine don't mix well.
My current solution is to just let the antenna cord hang out of the shampoo niche. It works, although it lacks a certain aesthetic appeal.
In short: I like this radio, but it'd get a fifth star if it had an actual standing up antenna on the top of it as an alternative to the cord/suction cup combo.
Digital camera Review: Good Stuff Summary: 5 Stars
I got this to listen to the radio while in the shower/shaving/etc. My old radio would continually lose the radio signal due to the location of my bathroom and constantly would get staticy as I moved around the bathroom. This signal is very clear, doesn't waver and is plenty loud. Very pleased with this radio.
Digital camera Review: Good Unit Summary: 4 Stars
Just received this unit for about ten dollars cheaper than Amazon's updated listed price. I had bought mine through one of Amazon's sellers (that was all that was available). It was a new unit. Amazon has apparently just re-stocked them and now they are available directly from Amazon for the time being. Anyway, this unit is very good in my opinion. I had bought a cheap unit made by Conair at a local store which turned out to be junk. It seems that there aren't that many good shower radios to choose from. But I am very satisfied with this one so far. The reception is great, the volume is strong and it feels like a sturdy unit. The only issue I have noticed right from the beginning is the clock/station display has a couple of faded or blank spots thus not showing the station or time completely. Regardless, it was not something bothersome enough for me to want to return it. It's good enough for me to find the station I listen to in the morning. I recommend this shower radio to anyone. The one missing star in my rating is only because of the clock/station display.
