Digital camera Review: Buy a roll of duct tape, too
Summary: 2 Stars

I'd read the warnings about the hinges snapping prior to purchase but bought a pair of these thinking "Aha! I'll simply be more gentle than these oafs!"

The middle hinge snapped two weeks later while I was lifting them off of my head. Fine. The Amazon folks were right. A little snip of duct tape, I'm good.

Four weeks later, the cord got snagged on a drawer knob and the left hinge snapped after a gentle tug. Seriously: nothing that would've bothered my beloved old MDR A44's which also had a three hinge design, and which lasted for maybe two years under far harsher treatment until the left speaker blew.

More duct tape, and now I'm writing this review.

They sound pretty good: crisp, nice sense of space, and as is the hallmark of the MDR line, you can hear traffic noises around you when jogging, your flight being called in an airport lounge, etc. I don't however think the sound is as good as the MDR A44's, which are now discontinued, but better than the competing similar Sennheiser $20 model.

But dammit they are flimsy. Horrible horrible design. I'd be interested to know what models/manufacturers you all went with after ditching these.

Don't buy unless you're prepared to handle them like porcelain.

Digital camera Review: Buyer Beware!
Summary: 1 Stars

I think this is the first time in years I have felt compelled to write a review on Amazon.

On first use, these headphones are okay. They sound relatively good, although the sounds tends to break up a bit at higher frequencies. They feel relatively good, although it took my ears a few painful days to get used to the pressure in my ears.

The problem? THEY BREAK EASILY. I went through two pairs in three weeks. Both times, the cheap plastic snapped in half. And, for the record, I was not tough on them. This was after using them only on my daily commute.

Bottom line, these headphones are junk. It's too bad. Look at another model, and beware -- because, if you buy them, these will break on you, too.

Digital camera Review: CLASSICS are the best
Summary: 5 Stars

at the gym i sweat and nothing annoys me more than having to continue sticking my headphones back in my ears;

THESE classics dont let that happen, they are secure and sound good.

Digital camera Review: Cheap breakable garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

If I had given these headphones a review two or three months ago, I definitely would have given them four or five stars--they've been my favorite headphones for years. Not necessarily because of the sound quality (quite passable but definitely not audiophile quality), but for the compact convenience of them: they fold up neatly and tightly and are easy to stow in a pocket or backpack. I've used these 'phones for years and they have always lasted many, many months until the wiring pulled out from the plug, usually through my own rough use. (A couple pairs on which I had the foresight to apply some precautionary electrical tape around the wire near the plug lasted for more than a year).

I haven't been able to find these headphones in retail stores for almost a year, so I was pleased when I noticed Amazon carried them. Several months ago I ordered a set and put it away for when I'd eventually wear out my old set. A couple weeks ago I at last switched to the new set, and two days after starting to use them, the headphones snapped in two at one of the folding joints--a problem I have never had with over a dozen pairs of these headphones before. Well, maybe that was user-error. I ordered two more sets and started using the first last week. It snapped in two the day before yesterday. The second pair snapped in two today. That can't be user error, that's faulty construction. I'm beginning to see why the bricks-and-mortar stores don't carry them anymore: I don't know what Sony has done in the process of the manufacture of these headphones, but they've changed them from my fave headphones to cheap breakable garbage. I won't be buying them again.

Digital camera Review: Comfortable and Sounds Good; Storing Not Convenient
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this style of headphones as I've had problems with fitting earbud type headsets. This set sounds fine, is very comfortable in use, and a very good value. My only complaint has to do with storage... it has a protective, hard plastic storage device that does the protection thing very well, but it's abnormally large and clunky. I've had this style of Sony headphone in the past with Walkman players and it was much simpler to store and put into use.
