Digital camera reviews of Sony MDR-EX71SLA Fontopia Bud-Style Headphones with Case (White)

Digital camera Review: Good quality.
Summary: 4 Stars

These in-ear earphones are great. Although the sound is not the best, you can relax without the problem of hearing noises from around the house or the sound of the cars when walking down the street. You shoudl but them, they never fall off your ear.

Digital camera Review: Good stuff
Summary: 5 Stars

These headphones are sooo solid for their price! Everybody talks about the cord but it really is no biggie. I like the behind your back style although I don't use it at all. They are very good noise canceling buds for the price. They do get a bit uncomfortable after a while though. I traveled halfway across the world with these however, and they served me well. They also produced great quality sound from my Zune. I highly recommend them.

Digital camera Review: Good, but beware the build quality
Summary: 3 Stars

THE GOOD: These are decent all-around headphones, with deep bass, and are versatile over a range of music styles. If jazz or classical are your primary genres, you might find these lacking a bit in nuance, and require something higher end. Otherwise these are a very good value.

THE BAD: I primarily use these for the gym and running, which has shown the build quality to be somewhat lacking. Between the jostling and the perspiration, they will fail after a handful of months. I'm now on my fourth pair. If you are hard on them, these may not hold up.

Digital camera Review: Good, but....
Summary: 4 Stars

These are great sounding earphones, especially for the price. I have had 6 pairs in 3 years, which is really sad. The first pair had a bad case of cable rot after about 6 months. Sometime in the summer of 2006 they fixed the cable rot problem. Pairs 2-6 all had the same problem, the left or right side would just stop working. I tired to upgrade to a pair of Shure SE 110's but after a month I can't get them to fit right or sound as good as the Sony's. Even though these headphone have absolutely horrible durability I will probably continue to buy them for the sound and fit. Also, after you get used to the "necklace" style of the wires it is a much better design then having wires hanging in front of your face and chin.

Update: I called Sony and they guy told me in broken english that the product has a 90-day warranty, which has expired but he could "service" them for $28.69, they are ~$32 brand new, what a joke.

Bottom line, these headphones sound great but consider them disposable after 6 months and don't bother calling Sony about it, they will just waste your time.

Digital camera Review: Great Buy
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is reasonably priced and has great sound. I use them on treadmills and when flying for business. They are not noise canceling but the in ear design and low volume music is perfect to block out the noise around you. Also lightweight and easy to store.
