Digital camera reviews of Sony MDR-IF240RK Wireless Headphone System

Digital camera Review: A little Noisy, but does the job
Summary: 3 Stars

You can hear a good amount of white noise when you are on mute. The noise isn't all that bad when you are watching a program, but you can still hear it if you pay attention. The range is very poor. Also, I had hoped that it would let me switch between the TV speaker and the headphone, but thats not how it works. The best you can do it to keep the TV speaker at a volume of 1, and use the headphone. it doesn't let you shut the TV volume off completely when you use the headphone. OK product. You get what you pay for.

Digital camera Review: A little disappointed
Summary: 3 Stars

The headset is light and has a good sound, I was surprised about how little range the wireless reciever worked in. Nice holder which also keeps it charged.

Digital camera Review: A noticable hiss which is distracting for most music/movies.
Summary: 2 Stars

These one is just either fair or below fair condition.A noticable hiss which is distracting for most music/movies.The headphone have built-in springs which force the bar on the top of your head, making it uncomfortable for people with bigger than average head. The sound quality is average and the range is reasonable. If your expecting better quality music, this is not it! Good for watching late night television or playing games without distracting others.

Digital camera Review: A pleasant surprise
Summary: 4 Stars

The headphones have excellent sound quality. They're light and comfortable. We bought them so that my wife can watch TV in bed after I fall asleep and she's very pleased. I like how much better the sound is compared to that from the TV's speakers. My only complaint is that the recharageable battery is not standard and will be expensive (...)to replace eventually, although you can use a standard AAA alkaline, which is supposed to get 60 hours compared to the rechargeable's 35 hours between full charges.

Digital camera Review: A poor choice
Summary: 1 Stars

Normally I wouldn't purchase such a low end, inexpensive set of headphones. But ,hey its the Sony brand...how can you go wrong? EASY!
In my case I had minimum requirements...TV viewing while in bed(3 ft range) and while on my exercise bike (10 ft.range). I also did not intend to use them for music.

First of all these are INFRARED headphones. Actual range is only about 15 feet, and the signal is only good for a 45 degree radius....and there better not be any metal in the path. Furthermore, the people who complain about the hissing sound when you turn up the volume aren't kidding. Also, these are on-the-ear...not over-the ear. The sound from my exercise bike makes it almost impossible for me to hear anything thru the phones. They are a little hard to turn on in the dark because the switch is slightly recessed and it's a little hard to find. Also,as others have reported, they are a little hard to set into the charging cradle, but these last two problems are minor. Anyways these headphones are on their way to some poor unfortunate soul at the Salvation Army who is so destitute that he can't spend another $30-$40 to get a good pair of 900 mz RF headphones.

I strongly recommend the Sennheiser RS 120 System. OVER the ear so no outside sound interference, crystal clear, extremely comfortable, and get this... when I have them on, I can walk thru my house, out the front door, and travel 100 feet to the side of my yard and still get good reception....with absolutely no interference. I just ordered my second pair.
Hey, I don't care what you buy but, in my opinion, STAY AWAY from wireless infra-red headphones.
