Digital camera reviews of Sony MDR-NC6 Noise Canceling Headphones

Digital camera Review: Close to the Bose
Summary: 4 Stars

The are great head phones for the price. I read alot of complaints about hiss and fit. I did try the $300 Bose and they have the same faint hiss and a little better noise canceling when no music is playing. While music is playing I could not tell difference between the two. When I first put these on they hurt my ears after a few minutes but I simply switched them around (left side on right side) and it feels perfect (slept with them on for 3 hours, no pain). I could not justify the incremental cost for the Bose, it's just not there.

Digital camera Review: Comfort Problems
Summary: 3 Stars

The noise canceling is good, the comfort is not. These little phones helped make my (former) miserable desk-spot (right next to HVAC system!) more tolerable for a while, but they suffer from two (related) problems. They don't suround the ears, so some ambient noise is let in, and comfort suffers after prolonged use.

I recently purchased another brand's noise canceling phones and I'm much more pleased with the comfort and cancelation provided by their ear-engulfing design. They're comparably priced and worth a small premium.

But if the potential extra pocket change is too much for you, these Sonys will do the trick in a pinch.

PROS
-cheap
-carrying case/pouch
-good battery life (single AAA) (get rechargeables!)
-LED on-light
-decent noise reduction

CONS
-not as comfortable as other options
-no ear coverage causes (above and) additional ambient noise leakage

Digital camera Review: Comfortable and excellent sound!
Summary: 5 Stars

This headphone has nothing to envy to Bose...the sound quality is amazing! you can even try it with the portable DVD players, and the sound quality will impress you, compared to how you can hear the DVD's with other prestigious headphones. I bouht this headphone around a year and a half ago, and they look like new. I highly reccommend this headphones. You will never be dissponted!

Digital camera Review: Comfortable, but poor noise cancellation
Summary: 2 Stars

I fly a LOT for work and was looking for some good noise cancelling headphones without spending a fortune. I have a lot of Sony products so thought I would give these a try. These were comfortable to wear on long flights but the noise cancelling was really poor. I returned these and instead have the sennheiser PXC250. I've only had them a short time but they seem pretty good.

Digital camera Review: Cool cans
Summary: 4 Stars

These headphones are great ... they do a decent job of blocking out background noise, yet they are lightweight and don't have an annoying lump in the middle of the rather short cord to house their batteries (batteries are in the headset) like in the Targus AWM02US Active Noise Canceling Headphones. I bought these to replace the Targus set, although I do miss the "cup over the ear" style of Targus, which really blocks out noisy office colleagues.
