This product was shown with a tape player in it but when I received the product and unpacked it, there was no tape player in the unit. Apparently this was the North American Version with no tape player. I kept it anyway because it served my purposes and I didn't want the hassle of packing it up and returning it. Amazon shows a "retail price" of $169 and an Amazon price of $99 for the Sony MHC EC 55. The same item is available at WalMart (and I think Target) for $99. It is the regular, everyday price, not a sale price. Sony's website also says it is $99.
This major difference compromises my faith in Amazon, and suggests that Amazon is misleading customers into thinking that they are getting a great deal WHEN THEY ARE NOT. They are selling a $99 item at the manufacturer's suggested retail of $99 but leading customers to think it is a $169 value.
When I asked why they were using the wrong retail price, Amazon said that they could not keep track of millions of prices. I reject this flip response. If Amazon provides a price it should be accurate. If it is not, the retail should be omitted. Why should Amazon give its customers absurd, wrong prices? The answer may be that they sell more by essentially telling customers that customers are getting a $169 mini-stereo for $99!

I BOUGHT THIS SYSTEM AND COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED WITH IT, THE SOUND IS GREAT,EASY TO USE,THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT I WISH THERE WAS A CASSETTE PLAYER INCLUDED FOR THE THOUSANDS OF TAPES I OWN BUT OTHER THEN THAT I DON'T HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS AND SONY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A REPUTABLE NAME FOR PURCHASING STEREO SYSTEMS.IF YOU'RE A MUSIC LOVER LOOKING FOR A GOOD SYSTEM AT A DECENT PRICE DON'T HESITATE,YOU'LL ENJOY THIS FOR MANY YEARS PLUS THERE IS A 3 DISC CD PLAYER WHICH IS COOL TOO.Digital camera Review: GREAT for the price!

Thank God I read the customer reviews! And no, it is NOT "mini"! I thought I knew what I wanted, but I get confused with any description which is remotely technical. My son set this up in maybe 15 minutes. I thought he explained it too fast. But what he told me was all I needed. This gives me the sound and features I wanted. The remote is great. Other products I shopped offered either too much or too little. I know music better than I know technology. Everything sounds great on this.
