Digital camera Review: Block out the noise

I bought these for my husband since he likes to listen to his MP3 player while mowing and running the weed eater. He says they work great - they block out the external noises and allow him to hear his music at a reasonable volume level. It's a lightweight unit that's compatible and easy to use. The earbuds are not as hot and heavy as the full ear muff style of noise canceling headsets.

I was hoping for a good earbud noise cancelling headphone that did not cost $300. This is not it. FIrst of all Sony advertises that it cancels 87%, while the packaging says 75%. When questioning a Sony customer service rep, he acknowledged that the Sony web page had incorrect information and 75% was correct.
I do have an over the ear noise cancelling headphone, however, when traveling on airlines for many hours, it is certainly more comfortable to have ear buds should you want to sleep on your side. The comfort somewhat overcomes the shortfall of the noise cancelling capabilities.

I just bought these headphones and so far, I'm pretty impressed with them. Suction-cup like silicon jacket helps the headphones block out nearly all high pitched whisps while the noise cancelling feature really does make a difference in blocking out lower pitched hums (Perfect for airplanes).
Pros:
-Noise cancelling works, and unlike the in-ear solutions, you don't have to stick these way up your ear canals.
-Extra long cord and light weight, unobtrusive, battery compartment.
Pretty decent sound.
Cons:
-Average, but acceptable bass levels. Probably better than the competing models.
-Price. A little more expensive than I would have liked to pay for any headphones. But at least now, I can hear my music in the train.

The Sony Noise Canceling Ear Buds are a great over-all product. The Earbuds are comfortable and by them selves cut out alot of the background noise. Once you turn the switch on the systems monitors the sourounding noise and does a good job of canceling the noise. It won't cancel it all. There not over the ear head-phones, but they do a very good job of it. The only issue I have is that the monitor/batery module is just at a awkward point in the wiring. Over-all very happy with my purchase.
