Digital camera Review: Bets tech toy I've ever received... bar none

This is wonderful, free book sources, use of local library and other state library resources, now working to obtain newspaper and magazines on the screen. One small unit and I've got everything to read. As a recruiter I get 30 to 50 resumes per day and I download them to the Sony to screen while at lunch. Buy one, I can't find anything wrong to speak of with this item.Digital camera Review: Better then Startrek

I finally have the startrek PADD, which I've wanted since I was a kid. The design is very slick, and the device is made out of metal and is very well put togeather, I'm not expecting this to break for a long time. The screen is amazing, I didnt see one in real life before I bought it, I love the look of this screen.
I started reading the user manual right out of the box and thought I had crashed it, but it turned out that the power ran out on the device since it wasnt charged when it came from the factory. When the power runs out the screen doesent have power to re-ionize the screen, and the page is "stuck". I plugged it back into my computer for about 30 minutes and used the reader for 4 hours with no power issues, then let it charge overnight.
Linux compatability: I downloaded an app called libprs500 (google it for instructions on how to download for your build of Linux), it works great. I am able to add/remove books from the device with ease. I found that I just need to navigate to the Audio folder to add mp3's, the reader will build the library/metadata for you when you unplug the device.
I've been grabbing out of copyright books from manybooks.net, which allows download of Sony Reader format so I dont need to convert anything. These books look great and are 100% free.
The only issue I've seen with this so far was the audio quality of the mp3 playback. I hooked up a set of noise cancelling headphones to it and had some slight feedback when listening. I plugged in my Apple headphones which came with my ipod, and do not have static problems. My noice cancelling headphones do not have static on other devices.

I was really excited about the purchase of a Sony Digital Reader for my daughter's birthday and everything was just perfect... the ooh's and aah's until she turned around the box just to find out it is APPLE INCOMPATIBLE and she could not use it with her computer. We had to return it and can't begin to describe everybody's disappointment. The product is absolutely great,but there should be enough information at time of purchase through the internet to advise about this unsuspected limitation.The other option is not as elegant and sleek and easy to handle... so it's now returned to you and you were very efficient about credit and everything. THANKS!!!

This is the most amazing invention! Love it! I am an avid reader and it is amazing to carry with me a (seemingly) never ending supply of books all the time. Can't tell you how awesome it is to be able to read wherever, whenever. The screen causes no eye fatigue, is easily readable in various lighting conditions.
The only 'complaint' that I would have is that the books only seem to be available via sony's ebookstore. Those books can be kind of expensive. I am sure there are other places that offer ebooks for the prs-505, I just haven't found them yet. That being said - it isn't really a problem as I would have paid that price or more at the bookstore for these books.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves to read! Especially if they are running out of bookshelf space!

I was torn between the Kindle and the Sony; but since i procrastinated too long (this was for this Christmas present) and found out the Kindle had a backorder of 11-13 weeks, i went with the Sony. i also have had good experiences with Sony products in the past. he really enjoys it. has purchased a really nice cover and 'skin' to jazz it up.
