Digital camera reviews of Sony RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning RemoteDigital camera Review: Actually this thing works once you get the hang of it Summary: 5 Stars
I originally posted a negative review of this product a few days ago and was prepared to return it to Best Buy on the next day. I have to admit, my frustation was not warranted. I'm not embarrased to admit that I didn't follow the directions properly. The learning function on this devise is, in a word, amazing!! Any function can be mapped to this marvelous little invention and as long as you remember what you programmed you can shelve the 5 other remotes that you consolidated. The other really nice aspect of this product is the price. $25 is a steal if you consider that the alternatives are all over $100!!! I was even able to program my Satellite reciever with all the DVR functionality!! While the versatility of this remote is its strength, don't expect to have every feature available on every devise. There are just too many buttons and labels to map. However, for 95% of my needs this remote fits the bill!!!

Extensive compatibility, easy programming, now I control all my home theater with one remote. Would by this product again.
Digital camera Review: All-in-one remote that fits your budget! Summary: 5 Stars
I just bought this device three days ago, and boy was I fully satisfied! It's cool not because it's a universal remote but because it's a LEARNING remote. Before, I had to juggle among six remote controls to operate every component of my home theater-- not anymore! I was able to input the codes for my Panasonic HDTV, Pioneer THX receiver and Comcast Digital Cable Box. It doesn't end there, products whose codes do not appear in the blueprint can be programmed (or "taught") to the Sony universal remote. You simply place the Sony remote head to head with the other remote control and set it to "learn" the other remote's functions. With this cool feature, I was able to make my Sony remote control learn all the functions of my TiVo, Bose wave radio and surprisingly-- even my portable airconditioner! It absolutely simplified my life with just one remote control to operate ALL of my electronics. For the price, this is a steal!
Digital camera Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one of these for my home theater and it works so well I bought another one for my casual viewing living room set. There's already plenty of reviews here so there's not much I can add, but I'd just like to say this remote offers just about everything one could wish for in a programmable remote control, and it's super cheap. The only thing I don't like about it is that it only has one pair of buttons for FF/rewind. I've remedied this by using those buttons as true FF/rewind, and I've abused the channel buttons for chapter/track select. It works OK, but I'd prefer to have separate buttons for those functions. Hey maybe next time around Sony will add these buttons and then they could practically put Harmony out of business.
Digital camera Review: Almost. Summary: 4 Stars
This works great as a learning remote. Easily set up some devices that did not have a code. Just point the old remote at the new one and teach it.
This remote does not have quite enough buttons to replace my cable remote without some sacrifices. Additionally, I had to get the label-maker out and re-label some of the buttons that I programmed over.
I haven't used the macros, so I can't comment on them.
I was able to set the CD or TAPE button up as another TV, so I can use the remote in the kitchen to control the Kitchen and Living Room tvs.
For the price, I am happy. But, I do wish it had a few more buttons. (Page Up/Down, A, B, C, etc.)
