Digital camera reviews of Sony RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning RemoteDigital camera Review: Best learning remote for the money Summary: 5 Stars
This is the 3rd one of these I have bought for all my electronics in two different houses. I have programmed them all the same so I can easily move from room to room or house to house and know how to quickly get things going. The learning feature is what I use the most. For some electronics there is no code to be able to plug in. Sometimes even when you program in the code all of the buttons on the original remote are not duplicated on your new remote. With the Sony remote you point the original remote into the Sony and it transmits any button function to the Sony. It works every time. Another feature I like is the multiple command buttons on the bottom. I set them up so that one click does several functions like turn TV and DVR on and change input on TV to DVR. All of this with one click. Pretty cool. The owners manual is very clear how to program and steps you through all of the operations to complete any learning function. I have had one of these remotes for over a year and have not had to replace the batteries. I really like them.
Digital camera Review: Best remote I've ever owned Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is great. Programs to any device imaginable. Clear buttons. Good size and weight. I ordered a 2nd one to have as a backup since we like it so much.
Digital camera Review: Best remote/price ratio Summary: 5 Stars
This remote rocks! I cant believe how inexpensive it is for the features it has. The only problem Ive found with it pertains to the Macro functions. The Macros all work well, its mainly my TV and my Receiver that have problems. It takes about 6 seconds for my TV to turn on, so when the Macro steps are being carried out, my TV is told to go to Video 1 before the TV is even ready to receive this command. Ive tried placing the TV commands at the end of the Marcro sequence, but the Macro sequence is not long enough (in time), to wait for the TV to turn on. This is the same situation with my Receiver. Ive tried placing the available 0.4 second stops in the sequence, but it still isn't long enough. Any ideas?
Digital camera Review: Best universal remote Summary: 5 Stars
For $25 you can't beat it. It does everything I wanted it to do and then some without all the expense and complicated software that goes a long with one of those Harmony remotes. Those things are just way overpriced and overcomplicated for the average home theater system in my opinion.
It does a great job of programming most common functionality using the different codes based on the devices you have. Anything additional can be programmed by simply pointing the two remotes together and having the remote "learn" whatever button you want. It also has the ability to program up to 4 macros (A, B, C and D) which are what really make this remote worth the money. I have mine set up to turn everything on/off with one button and then a couple other buttons to switch the inputs for DVD/TV/etc.
This remote has made my life with my home theater system a LOT easier. Definitely well worth the money.
Digital camera Review: Best value for your money Summary: 5 Stars
This device is easy to program and works right out of the box. I am able to progam and have it learn a few custom functions within a few minutes with no problem at all. My system consists of:
1) A Panasonic plasma TV
2) An Onkyo receiver
3) A Sony DVD player
4) A Direct TV receiver
5) A Belkin 3-into-1 HDMI switch
Now I've removed all batteries and put the other 5 remote controls in my closet and only use this one. With this price, I'm tempting to order another one for backup, just in case Sony stops producing them and forces you to buy something 10 times more costly and 100 times more difficult to use.
