I purchased this radio to listen to AM radio while working outside at different locations during the day. There is a lot of AM station overlap/interferrence at different times of day and at different locations, whether you are in local or long distance mode, in the Metro Phoenix area. FM reception is excellent. The AM station isolation could be improved but otherwise an excellent product.Digital camera Review: AM works good

I bought this portable walkman so that I could listen to sports radio talk wherever I go. I bought this Sony because I wanted to make sure I got a good clear reception. However, this radio isn't what I hoped it to be. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic but I'm located in San Francisco so signal strength should not be a problem and seeing as how I'm paying more than 5x as much for a Sony when I could have purchased a cheapo one for 6 or 7 dollars, I guess I was disappointed. When I'm standing still or moving slowly, this walkman gets good reception. If you're moving relatively quickly, like if sitting in a car, bus or going downhill on a bike, the reception turns to crap - nothing but eardrum grinding static. I guess I was also peeved because [...].
