Digital camera reviews of Sony SRF-M37W Walkman Digital Tuning Weather/FM/AM Stereo Radio (Black)Digital camera Review: Barely acceptable Summary: 2 Stars
I've had Sony Walkman radios for years and the quality of the reception with this model is now at all time low.
We live in a big city and the reception still isn't great - especially the FM, which gets sketchy with even minor movement. AM is okay but certainly not great. Sony has done much better in the past.
The M37 is powered by ONE tiny AAA battery and it does not take long to run it down - another shortcoming.
The radio should definitely have a backlight and time-off sleep feature since it already has a built-in clock.
The only thing to recommend this piece is its small size. However, I would gladly prefer to buy a unit twice the size and weight that got significantly better reception. Come on Sony, radio technology is not new and you could and should do a lot better than this.
Digital camera Review: Best Cassette Player Available Summary: 5 Stars
I love the Sony Cassette/Digital Radio Walkman. My only fear is they will be discontinued at some point. For learning languages it is a must. I need to hear the same phrase I am trying to memorize 10 or 20 times to get it down. This is tedious with my IPOD.
Digital camera Review: Best little radio there is Summary: 5 Stars
I was given one for my 80th birthday and it finally gave out after nightly use for over 3 straight years. Dropping it many times did not harm it much. I bought a new one recently as a replacement. It is tough and very useful and the best of its kind.
Digital camera Review: Best portable AM radio I have had Summary: 4 Stars
I like to listen to talk radio while taking walks etc. and usually I get a lot of static and interference while on AM. This radio has been the clearest AM reception I have had. I am very happy with it. I left one star off for the headphones which are cheap and uncomfortable. I use my own ear pod ones, so this doesn't matter too much, but it would be nice if the radio came with some decent headphones. Also, the weather band doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure if this is because I am in Southern California and there is no weather, or because the function doesn't work. I don't really need this function anyway so it doesn't matter to me.
It's pretty small for an AM radio and easily clips onto your pants/shorts. The preset buttons are easy to use and the reception is good. Now and then there is a little interference, but much less than other am radios I have had.
Overall, I love the radio for what I use it for.
Digital camera Review: Best portable radio I ever bought Summary: 5 Stars
This compact little walkman radio is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's compact, economical, gets superior reception, digital, is good looking. I'm not sure what more one can possibly ask for in this price range. This is the second one I've gotten - I lost the first one - and nothing else came close to replacing it. I'm thinking about buying one or two more to have on hand if they ever discontinue it. In case it's not obvious, I love this radio!
