Digital camera reviews of Sony SRF-M97 Radio WalkmanDigital camera Review: Decent styling, BUT... Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this because it was small (and, to be honest, a Sony-- a brand I've liked for other things). It's truly a radio for minimalists, though, and not at all in a good way. For the comparatively steep price:
-- there are virtually no features (presets and extra bass aren't enough);
-- the construction is shockingly CHEAP (what I would expect from a no-name drugstore brand instead), which means it would get easily crushed in my backpack; and
-- the reception is poor, poor, poor (as tested in spots all around NYC).
I'm returning it to try for something better made.
Digital camera Review: Exactly what I was looking for, to get my wife. Summary: 5 Stars
The radio is small, lightweight and easily clips to your clothing or slipped into a pocket. It takes just one AAA
battery. There are not a zillion station presets so as not to confound the user. This item is exactly what I set
out to find when I started shopping.
Digital camera Review: Excellent quality Summary: 5 Stars
This product has been great. The digital tuner makes all the difference. Rather than ending up between a station you always get the right one. The radio is tiny and has very good reception. Battery life is also excellent. I think I'm still on the original set of batteries!
Digital camera Review: First get your electronics degree Summary: 2 Stars
First the good news the sound quality is pretty good. The bad news? Well I went for Sony as a present because the recipient had (and liked) a previous radio Walkman which had finally packed up and I presumed that I could rely (despite the decline in the brand generally) on a safe, if likely overpriced product. Unfortunately I was dissapointed even by these lowered expectations. The product, while looking good, feels cheap and nasty, especially for its price and the buttons feel cheap also. However by far the worst aspect that disappointed me (and everyone else) was the complexity in making the thing actually work. Japanese interface design is renowned for its mediocrity but Sony is usually better than most. Not in this case, for it took 3 of us 48 hours, despite reading and re-reading the instructions to set any stations and finally gave up through exhaustion after managing the most important 3. If you find VCRs difficult to fathom or don't have a 10 year old kid to hand DON"t buy this product.
Digital camera Review: Great Little Radio Summary: 5 Stars
Hard to believe how good this little beauty is! Never tried the supplied ear buds, but sound is super though Sony MDR-V150 earmuff-style headphones. The automatic shutoff is a nice battery saving feature, although I have two complete college football games and two trips to the gym on the first battery (probably about 11 hours), and it's still going stong. If you are looking for a vary small, but highly functional radio, this is it.
