Digital camera Review: Worth the BUCKS!!!

I paid like $130 for 4 channels and a Center Speaker and it was worth it. If you don't want to spend a ton of money for a good sound than this is the setup for you...
I found it works best to put the center behind you and the 4 channels, 2 in front and 2 on the sides.
All in all, I am very happy with this purchase.

I've been using these for the past 6 weeks now and let me say first that these little bookshelves are simple, clean, and don't attract very much attention. They are decent in size, and weigh like about 6 lbs.
BUILD
A nice looking fake black wood enclosure. They're made of MDF inside and have some foam in certain patches in certain areas. The front screen is easily removeable revealing the composite woofer, tweeter and front port. Has spring clips for the speaker wire. Overall, very good build for this price.
MATERIALS:
The tweeter is a 1" Nano Dome, good solid choice for a tweeter.
The Mid Range Woofers are slightly less than 5 inches and made of HOP. This type of material is stiffer then regular polypropylene.
Overall, the materials used is really good considering the price of the center. 10 years ago this stuff was high tech in speaker construction, esp in car speakers which run on 4ohm usually. With the prices of these materials coming down, Sony is able to use them and give us a lot of great sound and tech for not a lot of money.
SOUND:
I primarily use my system for Satellite and movies. I don't listen to too much music, but when I do it's a CD and through my Oppo. So since these bookshelves are mounted on the wall to the left and right as surrounds, they will be in charge of background music and other directional effects. It handles both with EASE. It is extremely accurate sounding. Audessy shows that the speaker is FULL RANGE and lets all bass frequencies go to the speaker on the surround channels. This gives insane dynamic range, from deep exhaust notes and explosions to high bells and crackling from movies.
For music the surrounds sound crystal clear on everything from symbol to sax to bass guitar to electric guitar, etc. Very good, solid music reproduction. Doesn't have any punch in the lows, but, it's a small woofer, it's not supposed to. You can hear the bass, but just can't feel it from such a small woofer and with them being mounted up on the walls. When placed on the ground or on stands and used as fronts they are absolutely surprising. Just so much rich sound out of such small and cheap speakers.
I can definitely understand why this speaker is sitting pretty at #1 in the Bookshelf Speaker section for some time now. I would not have tried this Sony setup if it weren't for other reviews. For the price (I paid $49 shipped, for the PAIR), this is a really good set of bookshelves, esp for use as surrounds in a primarily home theater setup. But you can use them in a small room as fronts or to replace the crappy speakers the are in your flat screen (amp needed). I highly recommend these for really any multitude of uses!

Extremely poor directions for connecting speakers to Sony CD changer phone numbers included for sony help were not operative, nor were phone numbers given when i called Amazon customer service my attempts at making connection with CD changer were not successful returned Sony changer and speakers to Amazon will not purchase sony products in the future nor any electronics from internet sellersDigital camera Review: very impressive indeed

These speakers sound way better than they ought to considering their price and size. We set these up in my wife's studio and were amazed by the sound quality. Compared to the studio monitor speakers they are replacing (Yamaha NS4's) they are much clearer and more distinct, have tighter bass, and have plenty of volume. We're driving them with a Sony 125 RMS watts/channel receiver.
For under $50 a pair delivered, these are an outstanding value. Highly recommended!
