Digital camera reviews of Sony TCM150 Standard Cassette Voice Recorder

Digital camera Review: Good Sounding Cheapo
Summary: 5 Stars

"Cheapo" only refers to the price, as everything about this recorder is really top drawer and is of the best quality!

Digital camera Review: Good for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

Great little recorder for the price, better build quality than the RCA shoebox I owned before.

For those who care, two things you won't find in the product description or manual.
1) FF/RW don't stop at end of the tape, so it's not "FULL AUTO STOP"
2) The erase head is a simple magnet; recording is DC bias

Digital camera Review: Good little recorder
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased this just to attach to a PC to archive old audio tapes I've collected over the years before they completely disintegrate. Plugged into my PC's audio input jack via a standard aux cable. Works like a charm. Plays/records great. No issues so far.

Digital camera Review: Good, but not too good
Summary: 3 Stars

This product does what it sets out to do, record. How well it does that is a whole nother story. In a lecture hall you have to make sure to sit at or near the front of the hall, otherwise you can barely hear the speaker over the room noise and the noise of the recorder. The recorder itself makes a good amount of noise when recording and when playing back. And when the machine gets cold or has been used a bit, it likes to make a high pitched squel that is very disruptive in lectures. Not the best choice ever.

Digital camera Review: Great Basic Player/Recorder
Summary: 4 Stars

I primarily bought the TCM-150 to play back audio tapes. Some of the earlier comments mentioned its frequency range. Remember that this is a portable tape player. Besides, if you're interested in fidelity, you should look at something else. For my part, I was personally happy with the rock tape I played. I was especially pleased with the built-in speaker. It's larger than I expected for a player of this size. Consequently, I can easily listen to audio without having to use earphones. Finally, I didn't see any problems with the player's quality.
