I've owned many Walkmans before. This is one of the better ones. It uses one battery and I haven't had to change the battery yet! That's what impresses me most about this product. You get up to 35 hours of battery life, according to the product description. So far, that remains true. The sound quality is great. This is a good little cassette player. Good sound quality. My wife listens to audiobooks on cassette which I buy on ebay some of which are pretty worn. When one of these players gets a little tired and wants to drag with an old cassette, I just drag out a new one and tell her to use it only for the problematic tapes.
However, you should know this is available from Sony's website for $29.95 shipping is free!!!!!

We all know cassette players are going away, good ones are getting harder to find. I need one because many of the audio books at my library are on cassette. This is a very good unit except for one feature. Be aware the belt clip is not attached to the unit. Sony supplies you with a holster that the belt clip is attached to. This is o.k. just a bit cumbersome when you want to change or turn over your cassettes.Digital camera Review: Good quality sound

This item was purchased for my Mom who's 85. She had an earlier model which she found easy to operate. Although the sound quality is very good, she wasn't able to work the small buttons or read the display easily. I had to set it up for her. I don't suppose many "seniors" use a walkman, but Mom enjoys using it at night while falling asleep.
