Digital camera Review: Eats files - Be sure to transfer!
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought my Webbie from Sony before the cameras hit the stores. I have other cameras for serious filming and this was my point and shoot for filming my kids in action. Recently two of my files which were OK, just disappeared from the card. I didn't think too much about it. I put in a new card, shot several scenes then transferred those videos to my computer. While filming at a pool, the camera died. I changed the battery - nothing. I put the card in my computer - NOTHING. All the files on the card were eaten- the older ones and the newer ones. The computer wouldn't even register that a card was there. I put in a new card and it worked. OK, maybe it was a bad card. This weekend after shooting a few scenes in the shade, it was fine. Then in the bright sunlight the camera died again. Later at home it became alive. I'm wondering if a sensor was affected by summer heat and/or bright light. I'm afraid to use it - it may blotto my earlier shots. This camera is one of the older ones out there. Transfer your files between use in case this is a weakness in the camera.

Digital camera Review: Format Error in first 15 minutes
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this for my son so that he could put videos on youtube. He never got to use it because within the first 15 minutes of me figuring out how to work the camera, I got a "format error." I was using a SanDisk memory card. I got ahold of Sony tech support and the somewhat rude tech told me that I had to use the Sony brand card. When I told him that I wasn't much interested in buying a $40 memory card to troubleshoot the camera, he offered to do a RMA. Now, this is a SONY product and my opinion of Sony was that these things just didn't happen with their products -- can you imagine an essentialy DOA brand new Sony product? Anyway, I formatted the memory card a bunch and kept getting the error. While I suppose it could be the SanDisk memory card, Sony's website and literature say that any compatible card will work. There's enough other former owners of this product on the web with similar "format errors" that convinced me that its not worth investing another $40 just to prove the product is defective. Its just a poor product that doesn't work right out of the box.

The little that I got to play with it before the error demostrated to me that low level lighting does not work very well with video. The microphone is also too sensitive. For example, using the telephoto button (which is digital by the way) results in a loud noise on the video. It has to just be the button being depressed since it is a digital zoom.

Overall, a good product to stay away from

Digital camera Review: Good Camera for Price
Summary: 3 Stars

Takes good quality movies, but frame is so small, you have to stay focused on one small area at a time.
Needs to have wide angle lens mod or something.

Digital camera Review: Good for its price
Summary: 3 Stars

This camera gets a great particular: the directional objective which is very useful, is light and not expensive. The negative part is the quality of the image: it needs much light or it shoots a little bit dark and it should be HD but it does not seem that to me.

Digital camera Review: Good little Camera
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this mini video camera to take little short snippets of videos. We have a baby on the way and our dog is comical so we wanted to share some of our moments in the next year or so with our family and friends.

The Sony Webbie lets us do just that. We can take some small movies and send them through e-mail as .wmv files. The software we use on Windows Vista converts the format from .mp4 to the .wmv for smaller more compressed videos.

The camera works really well. It's easy to do videos or still pictures. There is no light source or flash for the camera part but the camera does a pretty good job picking up light in the area. While the videos are pretty good, this is not made to be a professional video camera. The pictures can be dark in a dark room. There is no motion reducer on the camera and zooming is manual. That being said, it does a good job for what it is.

I would recommend this mini video camera but I did take off one star on the review because of the memory card. When you buy the camera, it comes with only internal memory which is a joke. I think it only let's you take about a 2 minute video if that. Make sure you buy a memory card with it. It's essential to use it. They don't tell you that and in my opinion Sony should of given us more memory or a basic card. It's a hidden cost but memory cards aren't that much.

Hope my review helped!!
