Digital camera reviews of Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 HD Camcorder (Silver)

Digital camera Review: Sony's webbie offers it all: size, quality, ease of operation
Summary: 4 Stars

This is one of the many video camcorders available on the market today. The fact that it is made by Sony, that it is small and portable and fairly straight forward to use, as well as the low cost are the reasons I chose it.

I haven't really had much of an opportunity to try it out yet, but have confidence it will be as expected. SOny items rarely disappoint.

Digital camera Review: Special use for model airplanes
Summary: 5 Stars

Bare bones HD camera that happens to be the best for how I use it. I attach it to my model airplane with velcro and create aerial videos. It's light weight and swivel head make it especially useful. Nice that you can buy an HD camera for under a hundred bucks. As for the video quality, you can see what it's like by going to youtube and looking up my site "larsnorthpolealaska". Then select the video called "Satellite Beach Florida". Good video in bright light. Poor in low. Picks up and records sound well. Records SD card. Battery life average. Only digital zoom, which degrades video quality in proportion to the degree of zoom - max of 5x. Good for model planes, or something to throw in the glove box for spur of the moment needs.

Digital camera Review: Stay away...
Summary: 1 Stars

I have the Sony Webbie Pm1 and the Creative Vado pocket HD camaras. (both purchased from amazon) You will be very disappointed with the picture quality on the Webbie, it is very jittery and not crisp at all and not to mention the sound, I mean "horrible" any wind or hand touching noise will interrupt the sound completly. And dont even think of using the Webbie indoors, it will look like video shot with a cell phone. On the other hand the Vado is a sheer beauty, great picture quality and pretty good sound. Thank goodness I didn't sell the Vado. Considering Sony is the king of video this is quite a surprise. Don't buy this camara.

Digital camera Review: This camera it's a joke
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this camera and tried it on a cruise through the Caribbean. In design and portability is excellent. But this camera only serves on sunny days. On cloudy days or indoors, the quality is so pathetic as any phone with 2 pixel camera. But on sunny days... it's impossible to see the display! The second major problem of this camera is that it is highly sensitive to hand vibrations, which is normal when you stretch your arm to shoot. It's a shame that with such a great design, the quality of the pictures does not exceed the ones on any regular smartphone.

Digital camera Review: better options are out there
Summary: 2 Stars

really liked this camera when we first got it. the flip lens was cool, the video quality was good.
the problems we found with this cam are- hard to see screen in bright light, bummer because this thing craves light for filming
-photo quality wasn't too bad, if you stay perfectly still and the wind doesn't blow and nothing in the pic moves at anytime.
-like most small cams like this, it really needs light and lots of it to look good. the low light setting helps a bit.
-zoom is very jerky.
-video was really shakey "following" people (i.e.- following behind in motion)
-made cheaply, all sorts of errors when trying to use cam. wouldn't turn on, wouldn't record, etc. had trouble transfering files to pc at times
- finally, ours stopped working after 13 months. one minute i'm using it, the next it just goes black. contacted sony who offered to fix it for $90 (or i could just buy a new one for that price). it was one month out of warranty. my son has the same cam and his still works, but he doesn't use his that much, so i wonder how long it will take his to "have internal problems".

i opted to get the kodak playsport zx3 to replace this. so far i'm happy with it, we'll see when it's 13 months old.
