Digital camera reviews of Speck MacBook Pro 15" See-Thru Hard Case - GREENDigital camera Review: Great addition to any macbook pro Summary: 5 StarsI was so paranoid about scratching my macbook and since I'm a student my laptop gets taken out an put back often. This case is amazing! It's completely see-thru so no one even knows it's on your computer and it is strong and thick enough that I feel like nothing could come close to scratching it. The only downside, as other people said, is that it does make the computer heavier. Not as heavy as my old PC which I couldn't even carry around but it definitely does add weight. If you can get past the added weight (which you will) then this case will make you feel secure in that your investment will stay as beautiful as it was the day you pulled it out of the box!
Digital camera Review: MacBook Pro Hard Case Summary: 4 StarsFits nicely, all plugs, ports, etc. are accessible with the cover on the computer. Does have a couple of rough/sharp edges, but they generally don't interfere unless you bump it from the side. Vents in the bottom allow heat to escape so computer doesn't get too hot.
Digital camera Review: Perfect fit, great look, and Awesome Protection. Summary: 5 StarsI dont know how to go into much detail about a product like this. Its sole purpose is to provide protection to a mac book pro and it does that VERY WELL!
If you have a 15.4" - 1st Gen (not unibody) macbook pro then this case is GREAT. WE all know the aluminum underbodies of mac's can get scratched pretty quickly on a desk/table when we slide them around. Why not add a few ounces of plastic so that you can avoid the scratches and help the laptop retain its value in the future. Speck seems to have put a lot of time into making sure that their molds fit the laptops perfectly.
I love their product line and in-fact have a few of these for the new unibody designs as well.
Great products that give you the little bit of extra protection for your 'expensive' laptop.
5/5
Digital camera Review: Bad customer service Summary: 1 StarsI purchased a see-thru hard case for my new MacBook Pro. The description said that it fits all 15" Macbooks. It didn't fit mine (the box my computer came it said it was 15", but it really is 15.4"). I called the company to get a return authorization and got a message telling me to email the request. Well I have emailed them 3 times over 3 weeks and have not received anything back-no "we're busy, we'll get to soon", no nothing. This is no way to treat a customer-
Digital camera Review: MBP Protection Summary: 5 StarsI had one of these covers on my MBP for about 8 months and I like it alot. I also got similar covers for my daughters and wife's laptops and they like it too.
I took my cover off after about 8 months to clean it, some dirt does get under the cover. So after cleaning I didn't put the cover on right away, but took my laptop with me and had it on the floor of my car when I reached for the laptop. I grabbed the screen between my thumb and index finger to pull it closer and "snap" the screen broke. I had been moving my laptop in a similar fashion (with the cover on) for quite awhile and I assume the lack of rigidity (and my poor choice) resulted in the broken screen.
It costs $800 to have Apple repair the screen or about $400 at a cut rate place. That's expensive either way and having a $25 plastic cover that gives it a bit more protection, is a good investment.
So, consider this when deciding on whether to purchase a "sleeve" or a shell. I'd vote for the shell.
