I plugged in two of my hard drives to this adapter and they are now both dead. So I plugged in an old hard drive due for recycling to this adapter and that drive has also died. Please beware and do not make the mistake I made of using this without testing it first.Digital camera Review: Be Careful!

I should have been more cautious with the indications from other purchasers about cheap quality.
The construction is very weak; specifically, the leads were not connected strongly to the plastic base resulting in a lot of play in the pins. Additionally, there was apparently a short that resulted in two new DVDRW drives to be fried. I tested them with the SATA power connections coming directly from the PSU and they worked great but after installing this adapter neither worked. I retested with the direct connectors (that currently power my hard drives) and confirmed that the DVDRW drives are indeed dead.
I would strongly recommend that if you do go forward with this purchase that you inspect the adapter carefully for construction quality and possible reversed leads (see reviews of other molex-to-SATA adapters for similar stories) before installing this product.
BTW, do I have any recourse here in getting my DVDRW drives replaced?

Cable operates OK once the power connector was finally connected. The pins would misalign with mating connector and made it difficult to get connector started and seated. Otherwise the cable seems to work fine and continues to do so at this date.
