I just had to write a review of this set of tapes. When I got an HD DV camcorder a year ago, the first tapes I bought at a local store were TDKs. Immediately I liked the plastic cases. And lets face it, digital tape is digital tape. Tape quality does not affect the picture resolution on digital tapes. At most, a more expensive DV tape has a better build quality, not a better picture. Every other brand of tape I subsequently used had the same picture quality. So it comes down to personal preference. For me, the nice plastic tape cases won me over to TDK tapes. But TDK is not a prominent DV tape manufacturer compared with Sony and Panasonic, so TDK tapes are more difficult to find. Most experts recommend that you choose one brand of DV tape and stick with it because certain manufacturers use different lubricants. Switching tape brands may cause those lubricants to accumulate in certain areas on the camcorder heads, causing image distortion or other problems.
To avoid any problems, I wanted to buy my favorite TDK tapes in bulk. I stumbled upon this pack of ten tapes here on Amazon. These are the same TDK tapes I was using -- but in a package of ten instead of one, two or three. At the time, Amazon was selling this set for [...]. In contrast, a pack of two or three TDK DV tapes cost [...] to [...]plus tax in most stores like CVS. [...]for ten TDK tapes was an amazing price. However, the low price and strange packaging (with foreign writing) concerned me about this set. It just looked odd and too good to be true. I mean, ten tapes for ten dollars -- I figured it must be a scam or something. Proceeding cautiously, I purchased one set for [...] and a few dollars for shipping. I quickly received the package, opened it up, and verified that the tapes are authentic TDK tapes just like the ones I purchased in local stores at a much higher price. The picture quality is also identical to other TDK tapes I own. These tapes are the real deal - actual TDK DV tapes for standard or high definition camcorders, just in a weird package.
