Digital camera reviews of TRENDnet 2-Port USB KVM Switch Kit (Includes 2x KVM Cables) TK-207K (Blue)

Digital camera Review: Gets the job done, and done well for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

Been using this unit a few weeks now. I didn't need the VGA part -- I only wanted a two-port USB switch for my mouse & keyboard and this was the most reasonably-priced item I could find that would fit the bill.
The good: works perfectly fine without any VGA connectors attached to monitors, so works for my purposes just fine.
The bad: Well, the cables that come with it are a little bit short. I have two computers each at opposite ends of a cafeteria table and the cables are basically not long enough to reach both of them (not and still have the unit be on the table instead of on the floor.)
The nit-picky: It takes about 3 seconds for the unit to switch over between computers. It would be awesome if that were 1 second, but at this price you really can't complain.

Overall, I recommend. A solid buy.

Digital camera Review: Good KVM switch
Summary: 4 Stars

I have a home network with a laptop and desktop computer connected to the internet via a wireless router. I have a 19 inch LCD display which this device switched between the two computers along wit my USB keyboard and mouse. You push a button on the top of the small device to select computers. No problems!

Digital camera Review: Good Product
Summary: 4 Stars

Product is as expected and delivered in timely manner. I have two computers now sharing single keyboard/mouse set and monitor. Primary boots WinXP while the other dual boots in WinXP and Ubuntu Linux. Works fine. Lost a little functionality of wireless Logitech keyboard (e.g., volume on screen) but no significant problems. One quirk: in WinXP, you can switch from keyboard using Scroll Lock key. In Linux this didn't work but I found that NumLock does work (it works so I didn't really investigate).

Digital camera Review: Good Product Works Great
Summary: 4 Stars

This product was easy to install and easy to use. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is because the cords need to be 1 or 2 feet longer. Also the Switch Box could use a design change so that it sits on the desk in a neater fashion. At least not have cords coming out of 3 sides. Just having cords coming out of the back would be ideal but please no cords coming out of the front. Very messy looking on the desk. My desk real estate is not extensive. Having said that the bottom line is that I do like the product and just pushing one button to bounce between computers. It delivers.

Digital camera Review: Good USB KVM switch for a nice prize
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed an USB KVM switch in order to share one keyboard and mouse between my MacBook (Mac OS X 10.4 and Windows XP SP2 via Boot Camp) and my business laptop (Windows XP). To make things more interesting: I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse (Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v2).

At first I had my doubts that this combination will work at all, especially due to the wireless keyboard and mouse. However I decided to give the TK-207 a chance.
And, to my surprise, everything worked OK, right from the start.

There is a small problem when Mac OS X is running on the MacBook. Every time I switch away and back, Mac OS X displays a dialog telling that the keyboard needs to be identified. In order to do that the user shall press the key located on the right side of the left Shift key. If I do so, Mac OS X complains that I have pressed a key on the internal keyboard which is not the case. I learned that I can ignore this message and that the keyboard is fully operable. It may be not a general issue but only related to the keyboard I use. However I do not consider this as being a showstopper.

The Trendnet TK-207 is a nice device for a very good price.
