Digital camera reviews of TRENDnet 2-Port USB KVM Switch Kit with Audio (Includes 2x KVM Cables) TK-209K (Blue)Digital camera Review: Buy It - You'll Like It Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this unit based solely on the reviews I read on this site. I couldn't be happier. Within 15 minutes of delivery, I had my KVM hooked up and running like a top. Some of the reviews here confused me because some said this KVM was not compatible with a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse, yet other reviewers said it WAS compatible. Since the directions do not specifically address this, I simply took the USB wired receiver/transmitter that communicates with my wireless pieces, and attached it to the KVM where the keyboard is supposed to be hooked in. For those of you who have not seen this unit, that may sound confusing. But the confusion will disappear once you begin to hook your unit up. After starting my first computer as instructed, I had to wait about 15 seconds for the wireless keyboard and mouse to start working. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are no software or drivers required. The KVM draws its power form a USB connection made to each computer with the wires provided by the TRENDnet. I do not consider myself a "computer person", and yet the hook-up of this unit was very quick and simple. I highly reccomend.
Digital camera Review: Cheap quality Summary: 2 Stars
After receiving the product and plugging everything in, I was kind of disappointed with the behavior. Very frequently both my USB keyboard and mouse would stop responding. Occassionally, the problem would correct itself but very often I had to unplug and replug them to get the system to respond again. Both devices work fine when connected into the main computer or other USB hubs. I probably won't be buying any mroe trendnet products.
Digital camera Review: Color Me Impressed Summary: 5 Stars
I was extremely cautious about this device when I bought it. I really just needed something to switch audio and video between my XBox and my PC. That worked flawlessly as expected. What I didn't expect is that when I swapped out the XBox cables for my work laptop - that worked just as well!
Furthermore, the #1 gripe I have read about all of these KVM devices is that they don't work with wireless keyboards and mice. I have an older Logitech kb/mouse combo and mine works perfectly switching from my work laptop to my home PC. I just plugged the USB's from the provided cables into the computer and laptop and then plugged my wireless kb/mouse into the mouse port of the KVM switch and both PC and laptop picked it up automatically.
I consider myself lucky after all the bad reviews I've read but I can't help but be impressed by how fast and easy this thing worked.
Digital camera Review: Couldn't work for Windows 98 Summary: 2 Stars
Like the title says, I couldn't get it to work for my old computer which ran Windows 98. But it works great for Vista.
Digital camera Review: DOA Summary: 1 Stars
Video worked but keyboard and mouse did not. I tried different sets of keyboard and mouse without luck. I called the tech support and we tried various ways for problem determination and it was confirmed that I received a bad device. At least the TrendNet support was fast and seemed to be knowledgeable, no complaint there. It was returned to Amazon today. I am not sure if I want a replacement.
