I connected an XP desktop and a Vista laptop with this switch. Setup is easy. Hitting the scroll lock key twice switches between the laptop and desktop.
I encountered a problem with "HID data has stopped working" when switching to the Vista laptop. Unchecking the "hp quick launch buttons" on msconfig startup resolved the issue. I paid $17.99 on amazon.com for this product so I am pleased with the price and happy with the product.

I ordered this because we just moved from a 3 bedroom (where I had my own office with two desks) to a 2 bedroom (without my own office and just one desk). I work from home and I'm a student, so I have my work laptop and monitor and my school laptop and monitor. Before I was able to spread out and have two desks. Now my husband and I are sharing an office and we're both only allowed one desk because of space. I LOVE the setup this KVM switch allows me to have. It was SOOOOO simple to set up (which is good for someone like me who thinks some technologies are scary) and VERY easy to use.
I do not like that the cords are all over and coming out every which way, but it still is quite functional and a great way to have everything I want. I would HIGHLY recommend this to someone who is looking to save space. I was worried about it working with two laptops instead of two desktops but it works beautifully.
