Digital camera reviews of Tamrac 5766 Velocity 6x Compact Sling Pack (Black)Digital camera Review: Comfortable and Secure Summary: 5 Stars
This cross body sling-style bag is just big enough for one dSLR with one lens attached and an extra lens. The front zipper pouch can carry keys and thin wallet or filter case. It's a snug fit for my Nikon D80 and that's OK with me as I like it compact. At the end of the day, the only thing that bothered me was the big slider thing (to adjust the length of the shoulder strap) which cut into my shoulder with the strap nearly fully extended, due to the weight of camera and lens'. An added shoulder strap pad would make it comfortable enough for all day shooting. The ability to wear it across rather than on one shoulder makes it extra secure. I recommend this bag highly.
Digital camera Review: Finally, An SLR Camera Bag That Works! Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far the best SLR camera bag on the market. My Pentax K10D with 18-55mm lens and hood fits perfectly. If I remove one of the inserts, there's room for my 18-200mm lens; plus plenty of room in the front pocket for spare batteries, cards, etc. I like the comfort, size, and quick-easy access. The only improvements needed is the strap, which I think should be interchangeable (for those that don't like sling packs) and the backside of the bag should have rubberized coating for added durability when setting the bag on the ground. Otherwise, this is a wonderful product, and I'll never carry anything else.
Digital camera Review: GREAT BAG Summary: 5 Stars
THIS IS A GREAT BAG FOR EVERYDAY ONE LENSE USE..... I LOVE IT! EASY TO PUT ON AND TAKE YOUR CAMERA OUT OF. LOTS OF PADDING FOR PROTECTION WHICH IS A MUST! ALSO HAS ADDITIONAL POCKETS FOR MEDIA CARDS, PHONE, CREDIT CARDS, CASH AND MORE!!!
Digital camera Review: Good bag Summary: 5 Stars
This bag does what I want: it keeps my camera easily accessible and doesn't add extra bulk/weight. It is just big enough for my D90 with 18-200mm lens, although the hood doesn't really fit when attached to the lens. A D300 won't fit.
One thing to note about this bag is that it's asymmetric and is clearly meant to be worn on your right side. You can wear it as a messenger bag on your left, but it won't feel quite right.
It is pretty quick to convert from a sling to the messenger bag and back, although strap has to be adjusted. It's not very comfortable as a sling, so I don't envision keeping it on my back a whole lot. However, it feels very comfortable on the hip.
It is well padded, but soft everywhere, no hard reinforcements. I think that adds to the comfort. There is really only one way to put it down, on its flat side, which makes the camera lie right side up, which I also think is a plus.
Digital camera Review: Good everyday carry bag. Summary: 5 Stars
I like this bag. I use it as a grab & go carry bag for a Pentax K100D with the kit lens and 50mm prime. It's just big enough to tuck the K100D, lenses, lens hoods, spare card and spare batteries (4 rechargeable AA and 4 alkaline AA) along with a cleaning cloth and plastic rain cover for the camera.
That may sound like a lot, but the K100D is one of the smaller dSLR bodies and it is a snug fit. Anything larger is not going to fit in the bag, period. I leave one lens on the camera and one lens fits into a space beside the mounted lens, but once again, it's a snug fit. There is a small amount of room on the other side of the case I use to keep lens shades and caps in. There is room for a small flash, maybe. I tend to try to shoot by natural light so I don't carry a flash. You might be able to squeeze a battery charger in but it would be a tight fit. This is most definitely *not* a "everything including the kitchen sink" bag.
So, in summary - the bag is well made, the built-in organizer in the front is decent and holds 2 cards and 2 changes of batteries. The bag is small so if you regularly carry an external flash or have a larger-bodied SLR you'll want to go up a size or two.
