Digital camera reviews of Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens for Konica Minolta and Sony Digital SLR CamerasDigital camera Review: Camera Lens Summary: 5 Stars
This lens was delivered very quickly in packaging that protected it very well. I gave it to my son-in-law as a Christmas gift, and he was thrilled with it. A superior product from a very fine businesss. Thank you!
Digital camera Review: Can't ask for more for what you pay Summary: 4 Stars
I have not tried this lense on the digital camera (Sony Alpha) yet. I tried it on my 35mm SLR (Maxxum 9) and very satisfied with it. I would suggest you put your camera on a tripod and take still live pictures (i.e. flowers) using a remote control, then you can easily see the maximum capability of the lense. It produces amazingly sharp and clear images almost like a professional lense. Using a scale 1-10 for 10 being top professional lenses, I rate this lense 8 for the picture quality it produces.
Digital camera Review: Can't beat it for the price and quality Summary: 5 Stars
I was reluctant at first to buy this lens. I read several reviews first and felt comfortable investing in it. The first pictue i took was a confirmation that I made the right decision. I do suggest reading the instructions before using and they are easily understood. Plus! This lens comes with a 6 year warranty. now that in itself got my vote.
You won't regret butying this lens.
Digital camera Review: Does better than the more expensive lens Summary: 5 Stars
This lens is great. Don't let the price fool you, it's a great performer with quality components. Unlike some other lenses making claimes of quality, Tamron continues to deliver. Japanese parts, glass, electronics. Unlike the other guys, Tamron actually licenses the Minolta/Sony software so they can program good compatible and reliable code that works perfectly with Konica/Minolta/Sony (also Cannon and Olympus) cameras. The other top sellers reverse engineer their code, so who knows what you are getting. The other reviewer gives a good description of the DI and 'close-up' mode, which works extremely well. Check out his review.
Important, this lens does come with a good solid metal mount to attach it to the camera body.
This lens is great, it's worth much more than $200. Sony isn't selling the new Zeiss 70-300mm lens yet and the current lens is just a repackaged Minolta Maxim lens which is still a great lens, but I don't like it as well as this one.
Digital camera Review: Everything you NEED for a price you can afford! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, so you're are paying $150 for a 70-300 lens! Yes, it does have some fairly harsh Chromatic Aberration in ultra bright light, but treat it as a F5.6-11 (instead of the f4-5.6 that it claims it is) and it'll virtually eliminate the issue. Heck, if you use your DSLR in Auto mode (which i don't), It'll most likely never drop low enough to ever be an issue. And as with any long zoom, raise your ISO to 400-800, it'll be worth getting a faster shutter speed. It's a very clear lens for the price, just keep your aperture in check and it wont steer you wrong! Is keeping your Fstop between 5.6-11 worth the HUNDREDS that you save? Of course!!!
