Digital camera Review: A Great Lapdesk - For More Than Just Laptops!

As someone who loves to use a PC -- anywhere but a desk -- I've been a big lapdesk user, in general, for years. (Most of my lapdesks -- which are made of wood -- were purchased from Levenger.com.) I use an extra wide model while I sit in an easy chair and use my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse to operate my desktop computer. And I use a smaller one when I sit in my favorite chair and surf the internet on my laptop PC while I watch TV with my family.
The thought of using a lapdesk while on-the-road, however, never crossed my mind - until I discovered this portable lapdesk from Targus. This unit is small enough to fold up and fit into my briefcase. I've found it to be invaluable - not just for my PC, but for other uses as well!
Sure, it makes a good lapdesk to keep my hot PC off of my lap. But I also use it along with my Stowaway keyboard while I type updates into my Palm Tungsten T-3. It also makes a great work desk - for writing -- yes, by hand! And I've found that it also makes reading books and magazines easier - when you use the lapdesk to rest either the reading material or your elbows upon it!
I now take my Targus lapdesk everywhere with me. It goes with me when I'm working and visiting with clients. I find it easier to be productive in office lobbies - or in my car - when I have a stable surface on which to work. In my car, I usually use it while sitting in the passenger seat -- which is not an uncomfortable place to work (so long as the air-conditioner is running, of course!). In my clients' offices, I'll never fail to get at least a few admiring inquiries asking, "Where did you get that?!" (usually from other mobile professionals).
I even take it to my kids' sports practices and music lessons - especially since a lapdesk is just as usable while sitting in a fold-up camp chair, a gymnasium bleacher, or in the music teacher's over-stuffed sofa.
I found this Targus lapdesk to be so useful, in fact - I went ahead and purchased two of them! One for work (carried in my briefcase) - and one for weekends (stowed in the backpack I use to carry waters, my camera, and some extra reading material).
I even sprang for the accessory mouse pad extension from the original manufacturer's website (www.laptopdesk.net) which is helpful with my new extra-wide HP 17" laptop. The new ultra-thin lapdesk model (for ultra-compact PC's) that the maker just introduced also looks to be very interesting.
If you like to WORK or READ in places other than your office or your home - I'm sure you'll find this portable lapdesk from Targus to be as invaluable as I have. For my own productivity's sake -- I literally won't leave home without it! Why should you?
