Digital camera Review: Inexpensive, does its job, but could be better

The current version of the Targus lapdesk is the picture on the far right.
The desk is lightweight, can be used on your lap and on a desk. And can be used fully opened and flat or folded in half and kept at an angle. It is adjustable by an inch or so. The rubber grips keep the laptop from sliding off, while the slits provide ventilation. At the $20-26 range, this lapdesk delivers.
My main complaint about this is that my heavy-handed husband has already broken the plastic kick-stand at its hinge just by picking up the lapdesk. The hinge for the kickstand needs to be reinforced. Another con, is that the kickstand shape is too rounded at the end making an otherwise sturdy lapdesk seem flimsy and unstable, especially with larger laptops. It is the perfect size for a 10" netbook (asus1000he) and the HP tablets. With the above 2 issues improved upon, I can see this securely holding 17" laptops.
On another note: this Targus stand does not have flat-space on the ends designed for a mouse, even when opened flat as in earlier models.
Overall a good buy, but be careful with the kickstand and the kickstand hinge if using this folded.

I have a Gateway CX2610, and it always got hot in my lap after about 10 or 15 minutes. Enter this Targus lapdesk. When folded out, it provides a nice buffer between my lap and the heat of the laptop even when using the laptop for upwards of two hours.
But wait, there's more! I had also found my laptop awkward to use at a desk because of the poor ergonomics. However, I use this lapdesk folded with the adjustable leg to reposition the keyboard to a better angle for typing. It also puts the screen at a better height as well.
The desk also works well folded in half with my laptop converted to tablet mode. So, it's a very versatile accessory to go with my versatile laptop. I highly recommend it.

I bought this product because my brother had one and it was good quality. However Targus has redesigned the part without changing the part number. The new design part I received was very flimsy and would not support a standard laptop without significant bowing. The marketing photo at the time of purchase was the old, good design. Works great. My laptop puts out a lot of heat, however, I found one just like it at Target for less right after I bought this one and regretted buying it online and paying for shipping and the extra cost when I could have purchased it for less and not waited for it to ship.
