Digital camera reviews of Targus PADVD010U USB 2.0 DVD/CD-ROM Slim External Drive - Black

Digital camera Review: if I had of known
Summary: 3 Stars

I thought I was getting a great deal. But I could have gotten something for half the cost that has writing capabilities. This is just a DVD-Rom, not a DVD writer, rw. I shouldn't buy things when I'm drunk.

Digital camera Review: my review
Summary: 3 Stars

ASUS Eee PC 900HA 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home) Black

Digital camera Review: perfect addition to my aspire one
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased this drive at the same time with my Aspire One. The targus is small, quiet and performs as advertised. I especially like the rubberized coating, keeps it from sliding around and I imagine offers a little more protection if knocked or dropped. Works fine off just the USB, but has the ability to be plugged into the wall.

Digital camera Review: works great for tablet pc's with no cd/dvd
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this for a few years and bought because my Toshiba tablet did not have a cd/dvd drive. It was one of the few drives that was self powered from USB. There is no way I could use this on a plane if I had to plug it in! It used very little battery life. Works fast and dependable. Very durable also. It's been to all 50 states with me and through TSA many many times. Never skips a beat! However, it is not a burner - reader only.

Digital camera Review: works only about 20-30% of the time, and not on Windows 7
Summary: 1 Stars

Does not work at all for Window 7, just like an earlier review stated (currently using an Alienware M11x laptop)

I had an older laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad) running Windows XP, and for this computer, it would read CD's about 20-30% of the time. The rest of the CD's, the Targus would make some initial noise, then stop. Tried unplugging and replugging the Targus with the same results. Often times, I'd have to go to a computer at work to extract files off a CD, then load them onto a flash drive and use the flash drive to download files onto my computer, thanks to the Targus' failure to read CD's. If I was trying to download a program, then I'd be out of luck. I can't think of any other piece of hardware that has been so agonizingly frustrating as this one.
