When purchasing this backpack, I was overwhelmed by the variety in function, size and price. I needed a backpack for a 17 inch laptop and read a ton of reviews. I love this backpack! If you have a 17" laptop this backpack is perfect. The Dell 9300 fits perfectly and the protection for the computer is great all sides. It can carry many pounds and not feel any strain on back or shoulders. Quality zippers and construction. Would highly recommend. I have tryed several backpacks claimed to be for 17" laptops and none fit my laptop as securely or as well as this one. It has enough room for the laptop with room to spare, unlike others that you have to cram the laptop in and can barely zip it up around the laptop. It also has enough room to hold my books and folders for college. The stitching in the seams does not stretch out when it is fully loaded. It is a great backpack. For the money, this is a great backpack. I needed a backpack to cut down on clutter, yet let me bring along 2+ books, notebooks, folders, laptop, laptop accessories, etc. Pretty much everything to do a day's worth of college classes and not have to make trips to the car/locker/room. Word of caution: if you don't have the back strength and willingness to sacrifice a little comfort, this is not the backpack for you; though if it isn't you shouldn't be trying to carry that much to begin with. My only complaints are: 1.)the top of the shoulder straps combine into a single "U" shaped piece, making the top a little uncomfortable. This also means the straps may not fit you unless you have a broad back. 2.)The bottom could have been made of tougher and thicker material. It sags a lot, and hopefully won't wear out from daily setting down/picking up and generally being moved on the ground.
PROS:
Great value
Good quality construction for needs
Lots of room for most of what you have (even a good bottle carrier on the side; not those tiny slits that accept at MOST a slim water bottle)
CONS:
Not for the small or weak
Shoulder straps may be uncomfortable
Bottom doesn't match the rest of the backpack's quality
Bottom Line:
If you need one bag to carry your laptop, the accessories, more than 2 books, PLUS all the normal school supplies and you are prepared for the physical demands, this bag can not be beat for the money.
