I bought a flat panel TV at the same time that I bought this remote for my mother-in-law in the mursing home. I guess the TV is too new for the remote to recognize. The remote switches the TV off but not on and can change the channel occasionally. Fortunately, mom isn't coherent enough to know the difference. I got this remote for my elderly mom, who kept hitting the wrong button on her remote and messing it up. At first I thought the Hy-Tek remote wasn't going to work with my mom's TV. I followed the instructions to program it, and it didn't work. Then I stood right next to the TV and followed the instructions again, and it worked fine! I bought this remote for my 86 yr old mother with dementia. She was always messing up the features on the regular remote due to too many buttons. It was a constant struggle to keep the TV running. I went online to try and find a very simple, easy to use remote with just the basics. Wha-la, what a find! This is the easiest! She can only turn it on, change the volume, and go up and down with channels. The buttons are larger size for her arthritic hands, and very easy to see. The price was great also. I purchased this remote for my mother. She is 82 and lives in an assisted living facility. With all other remotes, I was constantly having to go and figure out what buttons she had pressed to get the TV messed up. She said with this remote, "I tried to mess it up but couldn't". This remote was purchased for a blind person. We needed something that did not have 100 buttons so that she could find the one she needed. This remote is great. Only the minimum of buttons and large enough for her to be able to distinguish the buttons from one another. I bought two, one for each TV in the house. I can see how this remote would also be great for a young child. The ship time was remarkable. Got it way sooner than expected. Thanks
