Digital camera Review: Dad's new remote

We purchased this remote for my elderly father who lives in a nursing home. He has severe arthritis in both hands and the tv remote buttons were too small and close together and too confusing. Every time he tried to use the remote he wound up reprogramming it, he would get frustrated and just turn the tv off. This remote is lightweight, the buttons are large and easy to press even with his limited mobility, and the remote is a good size for his misshapen fingers. He is very happy with his new remote. We were impressed with how easy it was to program, yet not so easy that he can accidentally unprogram it! An elderly relative was moving into an assisted-living place and we got her a smallish flat-panel tv. We knew she would be unable to deal with the multiple-small-buttons remote that came with the tv, so we got this remote at the same time, and it is absolutely perfect for her situation
I'm not sure if this remote can control a cable box at all. But even if it can, it can't ALSO turn the tv on and off. We got around this by buying an amplified indoor antenna (the square kind that lies flat, about 1/2 inch high) and kept our fingers crossed that it would pull in enough channels. It did! The HD channels come in perfectly, the non-hd, not so good. So I programed the tv to only show the HD channels that it received. When my elderly relative clicks the "channel up" button, she gets a succession of perfect high-def stations and nothing else. Best of all... no cable fees!

Contrary to its claims, this remote control does NOT work with most television brands. In fact, I would say that it doesn't work with most popular television brands available today. Thus, plase check with the manufacturer before purchasing this product, since it probably won't work with your tv.
