Digital camera reviews of Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV ReceptionDigital camera Review: Actually improves signal strength - Good indoor antenna Summary: 4 Stars
I've had one of these antennas for 6 days now. It has made a noticeable difference in my TV reception. I live in an apartment in a suburb, where some TV stations don't always come in very strong, but I can't install a big outdoor antenna. I live about 12 miles from the nearest big city (Portland, Oregon), and this antenna is a fairly good solution for my situation.
The antenna itself is not amplified. It comes with a signal amplifier which is meant to be installed between the antenna and your TV/tuner, and plugs into the wall for power.
Pros:
- This antenna, coupled with the signal amplifier it comes with, noticeably increases signal reception for digital TV, preventing many signal dropouts that cause loss of picture/audio. I'm now able to watch TV channels I wasn't able to watch before due to poor reception (the stations would cut out frequently or not come in at all for me).
Cons:
- That the cable that goes to the TV comes out the bottom of the antenna and fits loosely into the groove in the bottom of the antenna.
- As much as this antenna improves signal reception, the signal still drops out occasionally.
- This antenna can be touchy sometimes - Just turning or moving it a little bit can make the signal strength very strong or very weak. I suppose that's because it's a directional antenna.
Digital camera Review: Added no channels over my non-powered homemade antenna Summary: 1 Stars
I had followed the youtube guide on how to make my own HDTV antenna. I was able to get 2 channels with it, and thought if I bought a powered antenna it would expand my options. Not only did it not expand them, I can't even get the original 2 that I had. It's really as if I don't have an antenna hooked up at all. I've tried multiple placements, directions, and yes, it is on. I know most people on here have good experiences with this but to me, it's absolutely worthless. Now I only hope I can sell it.
Digital camera Review: After three months of use, I conclude this antenna is top-notch Summary: 5 Stars
It's easy to assemble. It's easy to connect to your PVR/DVR and TV. And it's much more sturdy than the Zenith model we had (which was a good antenna until it's cheap plastic broke apart).
It is large, however, especially when the rabbit ears are fully extended.
Considering the heroic job the Terk HDTVa does of pulling in even faint, distant signals, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants an indoor antenna.
Digital camera Review: Alien Communicator works well as antenna! Summary: 4 Stars
The antenna works very well with easy setup. It located many more channels than three separate units I had tried earlier.
I'll be sticking with this one although I'll try to find a place where it's not so visible. Doesn't go well with most decor themes. Function is what truly counts and it functions very well.
Digital camera Review: All good! Summary: 5 Stars
Great item. I had an older TV already using an RF box and figured no way would this work. After a little cable re-config\let's see if this works, it worked like a charm. Well worth the money.
